Yep, I have to agree with that. Maybe it's ok on a CRT monitor, but I can hardly read a lot of stuff because it's so pale.
And damn you Val! I was so close to being a Grand Master (well...not really...) but now I'm a bloody Schattenthingy again! >

By the way, on the issue of levels, would it not have been possible to introduce a few more levels rather than just make the existing ones more difficult to obtain? Just a thought...

However, I can't view this forum in firefox. It claims in an error popup:
"Redirection limit for this URL exceeded. Unable to load the requested page. This may be caused by cookies that are blocked."
Anybody know how to solve this?
Thanks.

Try checking to see if you have inadvertently blocked cookies from the site
Open up FireFox Got to Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies Click Exceptions
You could try removing all sites from the Exceptions list and clearing all your cookies.

-I can't change the font size from Internet Explorer, which I could do in the old forum. The letters are so small, it's driving me nuts!
- For some reason the scroll button on my mouse only works part of the time when viewing posts, but this might be my mouse acting up.
- The page keeps moving from the middle to the left of the screen, it's so weird...

Try this
Tools > Internet Options > Choose the "General" tab Click the "Accessibility button Put a tick in the box next to "Ignore font sizes specified on Web pages" Click OK Click OK
You should now be able to resize the fonts

All the way up, you should see a "Hey, Agustin, you have 80 messages, 0 are new." Click on 80 messages, and you will be brought to your inbox. I think there is also a link in Profile somewhare.

Glad you all like the new forum. I only slept 4 out of 48 hours for your foruming pleasure. An old saying comes to mind... "you get more flies with honey than vinegar".
Actually, nothing is white on this forum (the alternating post windos are off white)... however if some of you are seeing brightness, I can darken the colors. I'll look at the forum at work where I have a lcd monitor too. The text is almost black so I don't know what text people are referring to... if it's some place in particular, let me know so I can work on it.
What I'll do with post count since everyone is so happy with that as well - I'll revert back to the other number BUT we NEED to add some higher categories after Grand Master. Insert possible names here: _________________________
Snowtime - yes, the stylesheet uses "hard" size fonts and I agree, hard sizing isn't the most desirable thing. I have edited the stylesheet for lots of other stuff but haven't messed with the font sizes.
This new version of the forum really has some great features and, big issue, is tons more secure.
If there's anything I forgot to address, I'll add it later...

In fact, there's less white here than the old forum (background here is blue and was white at the old forum). I'll darken some of the pale blues to help though (it will be later though because I have to go to the day job).

Actually, could you keep Grand Master as the top and make it harder to obtain and insert some other levels below
Apprentice Journeyman (qualified apprentice and reference to Journeyman Project - OK could be problems with gender bias) Explorer Junior Enchanter (from Zork GI) Private Investigator Super Sleuth Schattenjaeger Guru Grand Master
Or how about just substituting the levels wholesale with those from Zork GI
PermaSuck Salesman PermaSuck Regional Sales Manager Luckless Adventurer Acolyte Spellcaster Junior Enchanter Enchanter Assistant Sorcerer Sorcerer Executive Spell Manager Vice Wizard Wizard Uber Wizard Dungeon Master
[edit]Perhaps we should hold a contest for new level suggestions.[/edit]
[edit]Rather than "guests" they could be "mysterious strangers"[/edit]

I think some people are having trouble with the headings (white text on coloured background) maybe making some of those blues a bit darker would help.

Also, it looks like the clock is half an hour out.
Re: the categories, how many can you have? Also, I think they should all be adventure game related (or are they already? Was Grand Master from Broken Sword?)
I like Snowtime's "Journeyman"
My suggestions:
0 - 50 Investigative Reporter (Laura Bow) 50 - 100 Private Detective (Tex Murphy) 100 - 250 Journeyman (Journeyman Project) 250 - 1000 Schattenjäger (Gabriel Knight) 1000 - 2500 Mighty Pirate (Monkey Island) 2500 - 5000 Draic Kin (Longest Journey) 5000+ Grand Master (Broken Sword)
...not to be confused with Keira Knightley

Hey, I have this problem too. I thought it was because I am using AOL, it can cause a lot of problems because of its 'architecture'
Glad to see I'm not alone

Status : Offline | quote from Aya in Off Topic regarding this issue:
there were 2 choices: optimize the forum to look descent for 800x600 but look kinda crappy on ALL other resolutions, or optimize it to look good on all other resolutions and do the jumpy thingy on 800x600... there are only very few sites left that support (or are made for) 800x600... so the remedy for that would be changing your windows resolution to 1024x768 or higher
I'm quoting because I couldn't have worded it better!

Ok, I'm viewing this from an lcd screen now and it actually looks less bright and has better contrast! I don't understand what people are seeing so please take a screenshot so I can see the "brightness" issue.

Status : Offline | Val - I think it had more to do with the font sizes. The smaller fonts mad for a lot of 'whitespace' and made it seem brighter. My fonts are set to 'ignore the font sizes on web pages' so they look are much easier to read and consequently the screen looks less 'bright'.
