What's your favorite candy?  I like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and almost anything that combines chocolate and caramel.

Absolute top fave?  Haighs' dark chocolate fruit creams, especially their lime, passionfruit, mandarin, violet and rose.

2nd and 3rd are all Haighs' too.  These are luxury chocolates made in Adelaide and unsurpassed.

Jolly expensive too at $90/ kilo.

I love sherbet but I've not had it for a long time...like eating a bag of sugar!

And of course you can't go wrong with a huge block of Cadbury's Dairy Milk.

PS is it just me or do easter eggs taste better than a bar of chocolate?

Deleted UserAwsome topic. Seriously.

I have several.

All time no 1 since I was a little kid - Kinder Suprise. These are rather hard to find in the US.

Other that are here... Skor(danish candy bar, not many around though), Kitkat, Snickers, M'Ms, Butterfinger, and... Hmm, not sure what else.

Do you keep all the little models from the kinder surprise?

My sons have quite a few but they don't eat that stuff anymore.  I'm waiting for them to let me throw out all the tiny plastic toys.

Except the tiny shark fortune teller.  I really love that glass ball.  This is my son's shelf.

I kept them for a long long time. I don't know if I still have them. They are either all lumped together somewhere. I might have tossed some out. I loved the puzzles. There are so so so many of the different models.

It's a shame that they are so hard to find here(US).

Ah, this reminds me of my nostalgia from when I was in Canada...  :'(  :'(  :'(

It was good chocolate to. What annoyed me was that I once got a passifier in one of the eggs. What's up with that?  ???

I forgot one of my all time favorites mainly because of the fact it comes out only once a year.  At around Easter, they release these creme filled eggs that are very tasty.  I forget what their called but I remember back years ago there was a mascot for it called the Cadbary Bunny.  If I were to guess the name of the candy it would be Cadbary Creme Eggs.  Too bad their not released year round.
I love to eat them by first biting the top off then scoop the creme stuff out with my finger and eat that stuff before eating the rest of the egg.

I remember when I was a kid, my mom wouldn't allow me to eat candies/ junk food. I do eat candies seldomly until now.

But give me a good chocolate bar, I'd eat it  but with no nuts in it.
Still busy being a mom

The mentions of Easter candy remind me that I like Cadbury's chocolate eggs w/ the candy shell (as opposed to the ones made by Hershey's).  I also happen to like Caramello's, which are also made by Cadbury and therefore use the same chocolate.

- Twix (anyone else remember when there were 4 different kinds to pick from?)
- Peanut Butter Cups
- Peanut M&Ms

And of course, any of the more expensive chocolates are also delicious, but I don't get those very much. :'(

I miss my Bubba: 1986 - 2006.

Aww come on... It's not that bad. The chocolate is great and although some of the toys are miserable, many are neat(although my enthusiasm for the toys has died down a lot, considering that I am not a little kid as I once was).

But wait... Does this mean that you don't like chocolate?

.

My fondest childhood memories of candy are pretty standand fare for someone my age who grew up in America. We munched all the same movie theater stuff like M&Ms, Snickers, Hershey Bars, Baby Ruths, Good  'n' Plenty, etc. We also got all the standard Halloween, Christmas and Easter goodies.

But my mother also made her own salt water taffy, fudge and other confections like raindow ribbon candy, caramels, and butterscotch kisses. She also grew her own grapes, berries (several kinds), cherries, apples, pears, peaches, melons, etc. and made delicious preserves, pie fillings and more. She baked wonderful cookies, cakes, turnovers, and festive breads too like aromatic banana nut and orange zest.

To top it off, her version of (homegrown) strawberry shortcake made from scratch with real whipped cream is by far the best I have ever had, as were her giant eclairs, cream puffs, Boston Cream Pies, apple brown betties, brownies, puddings, and on and on. We also hand-cranked our own ultra rich ice cream in the summer - chock full of plump, fresh-off-the vine strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, cherries, peaches, etc.

So for sweets, I always preferred Mom's kitchen and the amazing array of naturally exquisite produce growing right in our own backyard.

Cheers,  Terry

P.S.

Not a single person in our family has ever been even slightly overweight. That's because we have also led very, very active lifestyles that include hiking, climbing, camping, swimming, skiing, sailing and all sorts of other sports year round. We kids also had to mow the lawn, shovel the snow, paint the house, wash the cars, clean the attic, run errands, and help with all other chores. THEN we had to have after school /weekend and summer jobs in between all other activities as well as joining scout troops, playing little league ball and other fun stuff. So we constantly burned off calories like they were going out of style.
