Ok.....here ya go.....
I will tell you a problematic situation, and you, using your creative skills, come up with a solution.

You're stuck in a windowless locked room, with nobody around and the key is on the other side of the door. The room is practically empty, with a hairpin, an empty glass jar, and a newspaper in the corner. How do you get out without damaging the room?

In an adventure game I'd slide the newspaper under the door, pushed out the key with the hairpin, pulled in the newspaper with the key and unlocked the door.

In real life this would never happen to me

I stuff the newspaper inside the jar then, with the hairpin, I manage to make a spark that lights the newspaper. I hurl the jar at the door which starts burning like hell. I escape the room, get some water and put out the fire before it damages the room.

Well, you didn't say anything about damaging the door

 Simple.

I'd use my imagination and give the jar a name. I'd call it Door ! Now all I would need to do is walk out of the room. How ? Because, in the room, I now have a door that is ajar (a jar) !

 Simple !

She didn't ask what you'd do to get out of your room.  She asked what you'd do to get out of a fictional room.

I said it would be if it was in an adventure game... in reality the room does not exist and neither does the door

So where is the key then?

Where exactly is this key? Close to the door? Far away? Does it matter?

Is there a keylock on the door?

What do you mean? You people have me totally confused.

Belinda: Is the door made of glass? Is there a hole in it? How else can you know where the key is if there's no one around?

You're upseting her with so many questions

I think Belinda wants us to "take for granted" the situation, that is, "it is the way it is - solve the problem" but more information is needed to do it (at least I think so).

The word key has several meanings - in this case it could be taken as: A means of escape - such as another person on the other side...

I'd ask the person on the other side to open the door.

Except for that nobody around part - I think I'm on to something.

What?

If the room is deep underground (quite possible w/o windows), an antenna booster isn't gonna help

Since I'm not locked in that room, I don't know what it looks like and I have to ask extra questions.

Hey, for all I know, there's an article on getting out of a locked room using only a glass jar and a hairpin in that newspaper
