Terry brought up in another thread the holes in the plots of older AGs that were often overlooked due to the newness of the games at the time.  Sounds like an interesting topic!

I'll have to think about this one a bit, but lets go 1998 and earlier....

The only game I remember where anyone changed their cloths was towards the ending of Gabriel Knight 2.

While it's not exactly an adventure game Cate Archer changes her outfits fairly frequently in NOLF and NOLF2.

I suppose I shouldn't even mention the obvious Myst one regarding "prison" books.
Dyslexics wonder why there isn't a word that means the same thing as "cinnamon."

Is the monster ever really dead at the end of a horror movie?  Why should Myst be any different?

We've got such a nice list of these for all King's Quest & Laura Bow games over at Sierra Planet, but the site's down while the new co-admin searches for a decent web host.  Forum's up though.

In other words, I'd contribute, but my resource of information (obviously not my brain) isn't available.  :

Some recent games have gaping plot holes too. In Myst V, Esher could teleport wherever he wanted. He could interact with material obejcts and yet he relied on you to activate switches and work out puzzles even though he knew how to do them himself. Again, keeping on the Myst route. You'd think that having sealed the prison fate of the brothers in the first Myst, that your face would have been marked vividly in their memories seeing as though you were the first person they'd come across in years. And yet, they do not seem to know you in Myst IV.

Analyzing the plot of any Myst game is an exercise that can only result in shame and exasperation.

In GK3, Gabriel & Grace wear different clothes on Day 2 (the same ones on Days 1 & 3 though).

Jim Pearson changes his clothes occasionally in Black Dahlia (thankfully--the story takes place over a few years!

[DOTT SPOILER ALERT]

In the finale of DOTT, the tentacle clones are defeated with a bowling ball that (according to Green Tentacle) Purple Tentacle brought to the mansion after he grew arms. Since the finale takes place on the day prior to the day Purple grew arms, that bowling ball shouldn't exist. Kinda takes the "woah, we've traveled back in time" mystique out of that sequence.

Also, the shape of the country's flag in the credits shouldn't have changed either, since the actions of the trio during the finale "overwrite" all the events of the following day.

Coming back to the (non-existent) prison books in Myst, who tore out all the red and blue pages and scattered them around the various ages?

Ever played Shenmue 1&2? Not only does Ryo spend MONTHS without showering or changing his clothes, but he has a band-aid on his forehead the entire time too!

Deleted UserIn books they never mention changing clothes ... why should they bother in a Game?  Isn't an adventure game made for those who never/seldom read books? Escapism.

I've read many books that describe a person's clothes, and it's pretty obvious that people change their clothes.

But when you have a character on screen, and you control it for days or weeks in game time, it's annoying to have it wear the same clothes. It looks like whoever made the game was being lazy.

And most adventure gamers I know read books. Adventurers like a good plot!

Or, you have a case like in Shivers or GK1, where the closet is filled with several outfits ... that all look the same.

In The Colonel's Bequest, you can tell Laura to "use toilet."  And she will, but not without your POV all of a sudden being in the hallway w/ the door closing in your face.

In The Dagger of Amon Ra, if you use the hand icon on the toilets in the speakeasy, you get this message: "You'd be too embarrassed to go while somebody is watching you.  Hold it until the end of the game."

Does that answer your question?  :

I remember trying to use the toilet in SQ6. Roger Wilco says something like "I don't have to go. I went before you started playing."

In one of the other Space Quest games (4, 5?) you can make Roger use the toilet, but if you do, he dies.
