Status : Offline | Thank you! Yes, Promised land. I would say that my memory was starting to fail, but it was never that good to begin with :-/
We are both correct about Spider Robinson. He is a Sci-Fi writer who wrote all of the Calahan stories. BUT...
He is also a musician who gets paid to do gigs. He wrote and performed the music used in the game. In my opinion, that qualified him. My collection, my deffinition
So, know of any others?

...Oops, I see Chris beat me to The Eye
Aren't we really stretching with the idea of these musicians "designing" these games. Did Queensryche really design Promised Land. Did David Bowie have anything to do with the "design" of Omikron, other than doing the soundtrack?

Status : Offline | While not designed by a Rock band, 9: The Last Resort featured Cher as a beautiful - and funny! - animatronic "Fortune Teller".
9 also featured a song or two from members of the well-known rock group Aerosmith (especially Joe Perry and Steven Tyler).
Overall, the soundtrack consisted of guitar screeches and feedback from Mr. Perry's guitars, and some unintelligible sounds emanating from the biggest front-man lips of all time - Steve Tyler.
The game wasn't very well-received within the Adventure Games Community. It had a small Action sequence (requiring the use of a gun or some other weapon to kill monster rats), and a little bug - for which *now* there is a patch.
This bug stopped me from finishing the game. It had to do with getting enough coins (or "tokens" to give to Cher.
I re-played the entire game three times up to that point, carefully performed all my tasks and did all the correct things to do and it still wouldn't "let me in".
I guess I was about ½ all the way through and gave up.
If anyone has a Saved Game past the exact point of giving and/or getting the four tokens to/from Cher, please email it to me, if possible. Thank you.
9: The Last Resort had its flaws but remains one of the most notorious titles in the Adventure Games repertoire: a failed, expensive oddity - mainly because it's full of gobs of Hollywood money and talent.
To summarize: 9: The Last Resort has the Rock 'n' Roll you're seeking, plus a pretty good Adventure Game featuring '80's stars and celebs (Jim Belushi was funny as the mad "Red Baron", putt-putting around in his old always-on-the-verge-of-stalling crop-duster. "Nose down!", I kept trying to tell him, "Nose of the prop plane down!". Great box and "souvenirs", too.
Here's a nice review from JA+'s own, Ray Ivey:9: The Last Resort review.
PLease allow me to put it to you this way. I still want to finish the game...after all these years
Please proofread your posts carefully to see if you any words out.

Sounds like one that would be fun to play. Or at least really, really weird! :

I started playing Eve. Then I played a bit of Bad Day at the Midway. What I noticed was that these games were WEIRD! Off-the-wall, head-banging, speaking-in-tongues strange!
And I wanted more.
I have "9" and played it through to the end. No bug for me. But I was disapointed. First, it was supposed to be the ultimate inspiration. But frankly I have seen better. Much better. Then there were all the big name stars adding their tallent. But again, I have seen much better from no-names.
The game was alright. But I was let down by the hype. And I don't think it really belongs in this collection. These games were done by musicians who wanted to express their Art. They had full time jobs and could afford to take creative risks which a suited publisher would never go for. 9 was an adventure game with style, but these others are DIFFERENT.
I also have an ancient copy of Puppet Motel, but couldn't get it to work on any of my machines. Will have to play with it some more.
Any others?

| Deleted User | Er, uhmm, pardon me, but Cher is a musician? LOL. No way.
Maybe she is a con artist prancer around screeching in designer outfits, but does anyone think she really actually can sing? Anybody?....
Not to hijack the thread, but really! Cher a musician? Sonny would turn over in his grave!

And I also remember a game starring the Swedish group Rednex. I forgot the title, but I remember that I confused it with Mirage.
