Deleted UserI've got my copy of Fahrenheit today and I just forced myself to stop playing. Call it whatever you want, this is the best game I've played since, well, I dunno. I got the goosebumps a few times, and it doesn't seem like it's gonna stop there
. I did forget I was playing a game somewhere in the few minutes after the demo part. It's just brilliant! The characters, the music, the story, aaaaah brilliant!

Deleted UserI second that based on just playing the demo. Once you get used to the controls it's just plain awesome! I hope though that it does not turn out to be an action fest. Even in the demo I was completely drawn in and became part of the game. Wish it were longer. I probably won't play this until I build a new computer. To play the demo I had to turn the graphics settings low since I'm below (PIII-733 with only 128Mb RAM) the min required specs. Even if you don't like keyboard controls in a game I would suggest you give the demo a try. I think you will like it very much.

Well, the demo certainly looked intriguing, but I must say I hated the controls with a passion... My brain just cant seem to process the directions properly if I'm not directly behind the character... Is this an option at all? Otherwise I'm suffering from an out of body experience that my hands/brain just don't seem to be able to cope with. Most of the time when I got caught it was in the throws of staggering around like a lunatic fighting with the controls twisting one way then the other in a frantic panic to elude capture and work out which direction is left and right. Usually, I would just uninstall the game, but this one really looked promising...

When I was finally out on the street, I ended up with the camera facing me.. I couldn't see where I was headed and couldn't get the camera to swing around behind my character and hence couldn;t see where I was going. I really hate these console style controls..

Also, I have yet to see a game that Randdom has recommended that wasn't pretty darn good... I hope there are some better control options available.

Ughhh.... the North American version will arrive here 21st September.... lucky you.  I had considered ordering the European version since I prefer games on DVD format and its uncensored too.

As for the controls, the demo has the option of having either gamepad or mouse/keyboard control.  I should think the full version will get the same options.  I recommend playing with the former; soooo much easier especially when it comes to finding your bearings.  Just buy yourself a good gamepad; pretty cheap nowadays for that matter.  I'm personally using a Logitech Rumblepad, nothing fancy....

Deleted UserI admit the controls are something to get use to (after remapping the keys
), and still, I miss half of the "action" parts. But the game often continue like nothing happened, giving the feeling you've just missed an occasion...

Plus, it seems to me like the demo didn't have all the control right; like the character couldn't turn left/right while running...

Can't wait to play more tonight...

^^^Whoa! Stop! No spoilers please!  Yeah, I've already read the Carla bit part >

Give a warning if you're going to post such bits of info.  Heck, I don't even have the game yet.

Thanks!

Edit:
Oh yes, definitely get a gamepad....

I used the keyboard/mouse combo in the demo (I think this is your only option) and was able to turn left/right while running. Does the full version of the game have a training area to learn the controls and techniques better before starting the actual game play? Games like System Shock 2 had a great training area so that you were not overwhelmed at dealing with action elements at the beginning of the game.

In the demo, there is also the option of using a gamepad.  I played the demo on both mouse/keyboard and gamepad,  and I personally and highly recommend using the latter.

In the demo I got used to the keyboard/mouse fairly easily after playing, no problems with it.

BTW if any of you get through with the game and decide to sell it/trade lmk what you'd want for it
, decided to wait a bit for the price to be a bit cheaper coming to the US.

In the demo, I could only choose the option for the mouse/keyboard. Maybe because I didn't have a gamepad plugged in. However, I quickly got used to the mouse/keyboard combination and it worked out fine for me. I still won't play the game though until I build a new system for the full graphical effect.

Just found this out for myself and thought I would share for those who also are not aware. If you have a PS2, you can buy a USB adapter from radio shack for about $11 so that you can use your PS2 controller with your computer. Sounds pretty cool and I'm sure you can get it somewhere other than Radio Shack.

lol, I know what you mean: I've played the game till the end yesterday. I simply couldn't stop. Wow! The game isn't without faults; lots of action scenes (BS3-haters beware!), some camera issues, one or two stealth scenes are pretty annoying. But the overall emotional impact just elevate the game way up there for me. I am definitly going to replay it now!

@sg7: are you at the "easy" setting? I had difficulty doing the reflex parts at first because being on my laptop (without numpad), I had to do it with the keyboard AND the mouse at the same time
. I solved the problem by remapping the keys of the two keyboard controls side by side on the letters of the keyboard: way much easier like this.

Oh and this version definitly isn't censored

Edit: Yes, Deathray, there is an optional tutorial at the beggining.

I read about someone who played the full game non stop, and finished it in one day. From start to finish it only took him around 10 hours. He did say it was an amazing experience, awesome game etc, but, hm, 10 hours?

$20.00 DVD = 2 hours entertainment, some extras.

$50.00 GAME = 10 hours entertainment, replay value (different story arc)

Sounds like it's worth it to me.

What are the default PC controls?  I played this on the Xbox. They didn't have the reaction time stuff in the demo so I'm curious how that works.

Well, you can rent a movie for a lot less. I'm surprised there aren't rental outlets for pc games, ( lots for console games) because it'd be cheaper to play a short game like fahrenheit.

In fact, it's not too late to go back and edit the post, removing the spoilers.

Edit: Hey, can someone point me to the demo? Thanks bunches.

Here's the demo (through a Dutch site, but there are many)

http://www.planet.nl/planet/show/id=75057/contentid=603120/sc=787611

Loks like a great game, and I will surely play it.

But then again, I am also a huge fan of their last game, Nomad Soul/Omikron. It was a game with some flaws (but not as many a the Quantic Dream website sufggest...!) but a great achievement overall. A beautiful hybrid game with stuning grapihics, great story and very, very immersive.

There is two "Simon pads", the left one being the arrows and the right one the numpad or the mouse -the latter being very fun but way too hard to coordinate with the arrows

Yes definitly, and Fahrenheit has a very "Omikronian feel" IMO. it's like they took out all the (kind of average-) arcade sequences and replaced them with simple reaction gameplay; which gave them the opportunity to set up some kicka$$ action scenes!

wow - first post here for years

Really really like this game. In fact it is probably the only game i have played through twice in a row
(Now contemplating another go on hard this time). This format of game would fit very well in episodic releases I think (a' la Sin: Episodes). Sort of like an interactive tv series (something like an interactive version of Buffy - would work really well I think).

Mmmm.....buffy......

Anyway...where was I? Ah yes....

A couple of (minor) niggles though :

1. Although I never had any problems at all with the "simon says" type action scenes, i found it difficult to focus on the "action scenes" occuring in the background while trying to concentrate on the colour combinations.

You can watch the scenes played automatically  later in the extras menu but it's not the same

2. A certain plot element and character introduced out of the blue in the third act with virtually no foreshadowing of any kind (I wont go into it any further than that - big spoiler)

3. Not really a niggle as such but I have unlocked everything in the extras menu but I am still only at 82% extras unlocked in the in-game stats screen. Am I missing someting? Do I need to play through on hard to unlock more extras or do I need to collect all the floating tokens through the game? Or is this just a bug :S

btw (i would elaborate on point 2 but I cant remember how to post hidden spoiler text
any one help me out).

Deleted UserHey Random.

I am going to buy the game after I've finished some others.

But I've downloaded the demo. What would you recoment:
a. play the demo and the buy the game and start all over, because it's THAT great.

0r

b. Throw away the demo, buy the game asap and play it from scratch from the bought copy?

Glad to hear you like the game so much.

See ya.

Funk.
