This is part of the problem I have with downloadable, episodic games like this one - you end up paying far more overall than you would for a normal game you buy in a shop. And frankly, asking that much for a game that's not hugely impressive and only a few hours long seems a bit cheeky.
I might buy the first episode just to see if I feel it's worth the price. But I'm not a fan of the comic, so I certainly won't be getting the whole thing just for nostalgia's sake.

Surely this stuff's in the manual (if you're a player that lives under a rock and has never played an adventure before now....)?
And the manual, why bother doing a cool looking manual when 9x% of people aren't going to read it. Let's face it onscreen manuals are pretty worthless. A paper copy of this quality would look very nice however!
The mechanics of speech seem a bit annoying (camera flipping between portrait of speaker to shot of characaters together. The speech tree selector is also a little annoying.
In all it looked like it would appeal to someone who is younger than me. The way the characters/dialogue was written didn't though so I'm not sure what the target market is
I'd say that the game seems OK though. Not sure if I'd buy it as yet.

Overall, I thought the trial was so so, it's not that long at all to really give you a taste for much, I beat it in about 5 minutes. The action scene seemed repetitive, it was the same scenery played over and over again.

Yes, I'm a little concerned about this trend of producing episodic gameplay. Nothing inherently wrong with it, but it seems to me to be an easy way to shrink today's smaller games even further while charging the same amount. And hearing about Sam & Max today -- I really, really hope Sam & Max doesn't follow in that aspect -- the concept deserves so much better.

when it's all said and done, you could have spent $60 for a 18hour game if it's just 3 episodes, or even more.

:You could have tried turning the tutorial OFF before you played it if it annoyed you so much.

Obviously you didn't read it or you would have known about the tutorial mode.

I actually like the multiple character conversations. It was refreshing and different from talking to people one at a time.

I enjoyed the demo.
I wouldn't say the game is perfect, but for £11 for 4-6 hours of entertainment i'll certainly give it a whirl and see what the full game is like.

Status : Online | You're damn straight I didn't read the manual - I don't like reading stuff this on a screen. Not sure why just like paper I suppose?! I think one of the phobias is that a paper manual would be by the side of me when I'm in game, an online manual however would not be open when playing the game.
Doh! I didn't notice that particular info then!

Yeah I know, not every company can come up with voice actors that fit the part so well I convince myself that's what they always sounded like in my head, but LucasArts always managed it.
Of course these guys don't have the money to throw around that LucasArts does, especially when they're throwing it at crappy Star Wars games, but it's still disappointing.

The voice-actors were selected by the creator of the comic himself! So they sound like jeff Smith wanted them to sound like.
I realize that with any adaptation of a comic or book everyone imagines different voices for the characters in their heads, but IMO the voice-acting is awesome.

And you're welcome to your opinion as I am to mine.
Jeff Smith picked the voices? *shrug* Doesn't make them suck any less.

The demo was cute, very simple but well made and it showed the basic range of gameplay from simple dialog to "puzzle" solving to a little action. The artwork and voices were fine, quite appropriate for the material and the tutorial mode could be turned off very easily.
My only real criticisms are a slight sluggishness with the mouse repsonse on the initial main menu and a short moment of confusion at the beginning of the running / leaping action segment.
At first, it's a little hard to distinguish the main character you are supposed to be controlling from one of the others in that fairly extreme overhead view. He could have used a little flash or other highlight effect to make him stand out better. No big deal though, as you can quickly tell which one is dodging left / right and jumping over the rocks. It was also pretty funny watching him bump into things, do somersaults and get overtaken by the insects.
Regarding episodic AGs, I'm fine with them as along as the price is fair and the subsequent chapters don't take too long to come out.
Cheers, Terry
