| Deleted User | I have the 4 CD version; and it takes an awful lot of time to install. I never understood those game with different CD versions. I guess its a kind of protection against piracy or something, but I'm always worried they might have cut off some stuff.

Improvements in video compression technology meant the same data could be stored in less space. I expect there's a similar story with TLJ.

That's what I'm guessing, but it just seems like such a drastic change. Now if only they could do that with 7-CD FMV games. :

| Deleted User | I have the two-CD version. XP-friendly, isn't it? Got it when I had problems with the older version. Anyway, there are one or two dialogues with some sound corruption. Buzzzzzzzz... Annoying, but you can turn the sound off for just a few minutes and read the subtitles.

I bet if someone compressed the movies from GK2 into DivX or something, the game could fit onto 2 or 3 CDs.
P.S. Susan, I like your new under-your-avatar-message thingy.

Status : Online | I bought TLJ when it first came out, and then twice more within the past year (for a backup copy and for a friend, and because it made me feel good to support the genre). The CD artwork is also noticably different between the versions (the 4 CD version just had the title and the CD number, while the new version has pictures).
I've never actually installed the two-cd version. I sure hope it doesn't have the same epic installation time as the original

Status : Online | 1. The 2CD version has the same content as the 4CD version. 2. The differences are: -New open-source sound engine -Audio compressed to OGG -No low resolution video 3. There was no sound corruption, the problem was something else, it has been fixed for quite some time in a patch. 4. As far as I can tell the game is no more XP friendly than the other versions, the only difference is that it has been tested on XP, since XP wasn't available at the time TLJ was created. It was actually made for Windows 95.
