Who liked Warcraft 3?  I did not like it.  I think the single player was pretty fun but got very repetitive.  I don't even want to start to talk about the AI in multiplayer...cmon 1 difficulty?  WTF is that?  Anyone ever heard of defense?  Well Blizzard hasn't.  Apparently, the only strategy invloved in the game is who can click the fastest or know more shortcuts.  Brute force always wins in this game.
efense is futile...

I think the most disappointing aspect about the game is that they spent a lot of time to make a 3D engine...but they never utilize it.  There is no sense of dimension in the game except for the special effects.

The other thing I hate is that many many people regard this game as one of the best RTSs.  I think Starcraft was much better than WC3.  What exactly change in the game from Starcraft?  All they basically changed was one universe to another and they kept all of the attributes the same.  Oh and the addition of an inventory means nothing.

And why is it this popular?  Because people want to be cool and play cool games; they want to play the games that everyone else is playing.  You know what is a cool game?  Tony Tough is a cool game, but it's not popular to play it.

The original price of the game sucked Pork.  60 freakin bucks for an average game.  What the hell is that crap?  Neverwinter Nights is definitely worth 60 bucks and it's a collector's edition.

What Blizzard needs to do is take some classes in game design and think of some good ideas.  Since Blizzard's main office is here in Irvine, CA, I think it would be fun to go talk to them.  But I'm afraid they'll hurt me.  Plus my friend just started a new job there testing World of Warcraft, and I don't want to screw him up.

This is not a well structured argument because I'm just typing as I think of its deficiencies.  Tell me what you think...

How can you say that? Of course they utilize it - probably force you to have at least 1.5GHz CPU and a fast 3D card just to play a frickin' strategy game that's still essentially the same as the old Dune II

After what you wrote, I'm sure glad I didn't buy WC3 - but then I didn't expect it to be a great game. I think I got bored by RTSs years ago, probably after Warcraft II

Still, the companies who make most money usually don't achieve that by being innovative. Two words - EA Sports.

Did you try it at all?  I am glad that one of my apartmentmates got it so that I didn't have to try it.  I still love the C&C series though...and Generals shall be quite cool.  Now that is a 3D RTS...Have you seen the videos for it?

No, just read a bunch of articles about it.

Deleted UserMy boyfriend and his friends are crazy about these strategy games and of course the most recent is WarcraftIII. So I heard that they had great fun playing it together online and  one of my girlfriends also loved aswell I borrowed the CD and tried to play it.

I passed the level until I have to gueard the place while the hero had to go somewhere for about 30 mins. And after that, I was sooo terrible at it. I hate strategy games! Not good at it. Even when playing MechCOmmander I wasnt that good.

So in a day or two, I uninstalled it and thats about it. No more Warcraft.

I like WIII. Actually, I am now playing the final scenario and being defeated several times. Some maps can be acomplished with the "throw-all-that-you-have" strategy. But there are a lot in which you must think a lot and make a clever use of the units and their specific abilities/spells. Of course, I agree that the 3-d engine is not utilized and that certain missions arevery repetitives.

Sounds good...but the main thing you have to think about is that I'm criticizing the multiplayer.  The singleplayer was perfectly fine if only repetitive.  It's the multiplayer that killed it; it was made to be a multiplayer game....

Oh... It's ok, I thought you were talking about the single payer. Sadly, I have never had the possibility of playing the multiplayer.

Stooge - my thoughts exactly. The whole 3dness of it, the starcraft superiority, the popularity factor, the price and blizzard's downfall. My. Thoughts. Exactly.

I think I liked SC better just because you could have epic battles with hundreds upon hundreds of zergling. In WC, units are too strong, so the battles look more like little brawls with only a dozen or so units participating. The movie that opens the human campaign sure is incredible though! Too bad the quality of the cutscenes doesn't affect the gameplay :|
