Anyone want bets on how long it takes for this to be responded to?

I'd wager it will take three hours from now, more than enough time to order some popcorn and assorted commodities.
And to stay on topic, for once: I play them alone myself. We should create an organisation of some sorts, purely dedicated to promoting solitary adventuring; that should make perfect nonsense.

Does it bother you to allow someone else to control the mouse?

| Deleted User | Alone. I've played through a few scenes with the SO, but it was more along the lines of show and tell of graphics rather than getting down to the solving, which has always been a solitaire thing.
Eh?

* It's pretty much the same here, except for the stalking bit. My husband plays one golf game and Bejeweled which is fine with me, since that leaves the PC free most of the time.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other screaming, "WOO HOO what a ride!!!

(In real life, that is -- not counting the fine folks in this forum) Probably just as well -- I don't think I'd like someone looking over my shoulder while adventuring, and I really enjoy figuring out stuff for myself.

I play by myself. There was one time several years ago when I was first playing The Colonel's Bequest and my mom happened to be in the room at the time, and she offered some suggestions. That's the closest I've come.
I agree with Andromus; I don't know of any other people (friends or relatives) in real life that play games, so I have no one to chat with and no one to play with. Nevertheless, unless I was playing through the game and showing them what to do, I'm not sure I'd find it very enjoyable. I'd either feel bad b/c the other person doesn't get to do anything, or I'd be impatient to take control of the mouse (or keyboard) again.

I know some people who play with other people via email. They play without a walkthrough, and "talk" about puzzles and what is going on in the game. This is for a game where you want to take your time.

Oh yeah. I usually like exploring in my own way, so I couldn't stand another person at the controls with me watching. I'd probably be muttering under my breath, "Not that way, not that way.....there's nothing else to see there...should have checked that other area first.....come on, you talked to that person half a dozen times already....what about that spot over there....did you remember to examine that item you just picked up......
In other words, I'd be a real pain in the butt to play adventures with.

Now I play alone...
(it was more fun with her, though :-[ ).

| Deleted User | I've played adventures with someone else only a couple of times. Exploring a new world and going Ooooh! and Aaaaah! together was great fun. So is doing dialogues and solving inventory-based puzzles or mechanical puzzles. But I'd rather do the more complex ones, where you need to take notes, on my own. Some AGs are not suitable imo. Scary games, horror themes, for instance. I explored the first two islands of Riven with a friend and a small part of Zork GI. That's a wonderful game to play together, I wish I had!

We are playing Gabriel Knight 2 (yeah, probably should have started with something simpler, but I'm a sucker for that game (it was my first FMV game, and second adventure game I played)....
