I played hockey in highschool but I have no interest in hockey anymore. My husband influenced me to join kickboxing but I'm not interested at the moment. I run everyday but that's because I have to. I do like bowling but I am a terrible bowler.
.
So.... I think I enjoy horseback riding the most. Sometimes F1 races.
Still busy being a mom

Quote From Snowtime:
" Not too sure about soccer football though. Why is it that a game which involves only marginal contact between ball and foot (American Football) steals the name football from a game in which the main method of moving the ball around is by contact with feet (English football forced to refer to itself as "soccer" when abroad)? I ask merely for information"

I wondered the exact same thing!!!! I asked my hubby and he said has no idea either! [smiley=shrug.gif]

I've taken note of your apathetic, bordering on contemptious, attitude towards cricket. Expect a knock on the door by the immigration authorities. No one can live in Australia and not LOVE cricket!!!

PS: Hopefully the immigration authorities find the right house this time.

I hate sports. I had to finish my education at trade schools because of it.  I had streight A's in all my other subjects but because of failing sports I was thrown out of school.

I really enjoy baseball and basketball, wierd because as a kid I didnt like sports at all and hated all the jocks at school but having 2 sons and watching them play both of those sports I grew to really like them, plus now we have Lebron James and hes just such a pleasure to watch play basketball
dont care for football, but love the season, as I live with 3 guys who love football so on Sundays, they either go off somewhere and watch the game or just sit in the living room watching and dont bother me about anything. I call it my time and  I like that.

Has anyone watched the Ultimate Fighter, where mixed martial arts are used by the opponents? It's an interesting sport to see.

Mixed martial arts is actually my favorite sport, I have been watching the UFC for years.  It's really exciting to me that the sport has legitimized itself and is finally getting the exposure it deserves.  I'm a big boxing fan as well.  To me, the 1-on-1 mano-y-mano format is just unbelivably enticing.  I've been training brazilian jiu-jitsu for 4 years now and have competed in a few tournaments.  The feeling of 1-on-1 physical competition is an unbelievable thrill, win or lose.

Aside from combat sports like MMA and boxing, I like most other sports, except the really awfully boring ones like golf and nascar.  Baseball and football are the team sports I follow most closely, probably because my dad was a fan of them and so I grew up watching them.

Do I love sports? [size=32]NO!!!
Not any of it.
They all irritate me...
the sounds,
the smells,
the gestures,
the fans,
the score boards,
the big hype,
the unsportsmanlike conducts,
the entertainers,
the hero worshiping of the players (YUK!)

Nope, none of it.
But I'm sure I left something out.

Myst IV - Never finished it.  Got frustrated with it.&&Myst V - Did not finish it either.  Very disappointing.&&ATTWN - BORING!!! Never finished it.  Kept falling asleep.&&Paradise - So far .... not so good&&Voyage - Not on my favorite list

Absolutely! Yes I know Australia is getting it's ass kicked, but it's the most exciting Ashes series that's been for a long....long time.

Cannot wait until the fifth test decider.

Me too. Last night I broke my foot - ow! However, the upside is I have to stay at home and watch the cricket. I didn't do it on pupose - honest!

How on earth did you break your foot - and how badly?  Poor man.  That must make it difficult getting fresh coldies from the fridge while watching the game.   Or do you have a tame woman in the house?

LOL!!! I'm picking up a negative vibe here... [smiley=rofl.gif]
I pretty much hate sports too, for the most part. Our son plays soccer, and I love cheering him on, but I do not like the sport at all!! Now, with football season starting, I will be lonley...  :'( My guys will be spending hours after church, watching football... Boring!!!!! I guess I can take up shopping!

Sandy,
Look at it this way, more time to yourself to NOT be disturbed while playing games.
Works for me.

I was abseiling down a cliff with a box of chocolates...
No, I was rescuing a kitten from a tree..
No, I was kicking a live hand grenade out of a pram...
...erm...
actually, I slipped at the bottom of the stairs, landed on the side of my foot and heard an almighty crack. At first I thought I had broken a floorboard, but no, it was my fifth metatarsal biting the dust

I'm rapidly becoming King of the Crutches (that doesn't sound quite as impressive as it ought) so I can probably get my own beers with out having to find out if my woman is tame or not.

Deleted UserThe only sport I still watch regularly (well, in winter that is), is speed-skating.

When I lived in England I sometimes watched cricket on the telly and in the park, and I know some Dutchmen who played it (one of them even presented me with a booklet with the official rules of the game, when he heard I was moving to England) , but if I'm still sceptical. I read this report (see link) and I think: "this is a conspiracy, there is no such sport".  I challenge all readers from outside the Commonwealth of Nations to read this article and translate it into a proper language.
I want to believe. Is there a site where the game is explained properly, in a way that afterwards you can understand what they are talking about in the link ? The said booklet only contains the same gibberish. :'(

You could have picked a better example. I watched the match in question and even I had to concentrate really hard to understand the report in the link. Basically, the two sides took it in turns to have a set number of balls bowled at their batsmen by the other side. Hampshire went first and scored lots. Warwickshire went second and tried to score more but failed - they lost.

Here are a couple of links explaining cricket (beware it takes a lot of explaining!)

Cricket made easy (hmm, not sure it wins the prize for accurate title)
An explanation of cricket

If there is no such sport, then I have a better imagination than I thought!

I like to play sports (and no, smarties, not shuffleboard in Miami retirement centers...), but not fond of being a spectator.

I like to get down 'n' dirty, and I can't do that if I'm seated on my couch (unless I spill my bag of salt-free, carb-free, sugar-free, chemical-free dried tofu chips. Then I'm a mess).

I like to wallow (Southern dialect: "waller"
.

Please proofread your posts carefully to see if you any words out.

Deleted UserThanks, Snowtime. These will help, but you're right that it takes a lot of explaining.
On a number of occasions I have asked cricket afficionados to explain it to me, but they tended to start arguing among themselves, or give conflicting explanations (I should have tried to get one on his own ).
I'm glad the first site you mentioned says that the basic concept is the same as baseball. I once made the mistake to make the same comparison in front of people who played the game and was immediately threatened with being thrown out of the window (second floor).
Anyway, with a print of one of these explanations I should at least be able to understand  a bit more when watching it on the television (or even understand the scores in the papers).

Baseball is a game that the teams expect to finish on that day.

Cricket is a game that the teams try to take all week to finish.

I seriously doubt that even in America where just about anything is possible, that such food products as this actually exist :
my bag of salt-free, carb-free, sugar-free, chemical-free dried tofu chips

and if they did, why on earth would anyone eat them, they must taste like rubber hot water bottles.

Bowling is lots of fun to play though!! I was on a league for 5 years, and I wasn't great at it, but we had allot of laughs!
