I went and test drove one last week. I really like the whole concept of the vehicle, but I was very disappointed that it would only hold 4 people. And the one I drove had no power! I swear, I had the pedal on the floor and I could have gotten out and WALKED up that hill faster!
So, over to the Toyota dealership I went and there, I met my true love: The Prius. OH MY GOD...I LOVE THAT CAR! [smiley=love.gif] If that car was a man, I'd soooooo have sex with it. It drove like a dream and looked like a freakin space ship inside. Hopefully, I'll be able to get one within the next 6 months or so. I have never been so impressed by a car before in my life!!!

To be perfectly honest, I would prefer not to have any car at all.
My dream transportation would allow me to live in a quiet, lovely, walking district far, far from the sound of any trains, planes or automobiles. It would teleport me instantly to any destination on earth using a safe, lightweight, portable, non-polluting device or better yet, pure mind control to bend time and space as I saw fit.
Although the temptation to abuse such a system would be powerful, I would resist the urge to do so and apply the same set of moral and ethical codes I live by today - respecting the rights and privacy of others.
But since that can't happen (within my lifetime or maybe ever), I would opt for something simple like a late model Lamborghini Countach or a new Gallardo. Impractical I know but still fun in a sophisticated way that appeals to the little boy in most men.
There are also many true classics, very rare and beautifully crafted vintage automobiles in mint condition in private collections and museums. But I would feel uneasy actually driving them on public roads. A Countach can be replaced with a single phone call and some spare cash.
Cheers, Terry

But to pick one vehicle.....definitely, an X-Wing. :
All right, if I have to pick a REAL vehicle.....I've never forgotten the 1969 Chevelle a friend of mine had back in high school -- that was some car. Especially after all the work he put into it.

Or if I was in the mood for something more modern, the Lamborghini would indeed be great.
But there's just a simple, sleek elegance to the Audi TT that appeals to me almost more:

| Deleted User | No classic or vintage cars for me. Modern cars are better all the way around, for the environment, for the pocket book, and even if money was no issue, how about the dependability and safety factors?
I like the 7 series BMWs. That's a fine car, and while not modest, isn't in the priciest category.
Honestly, if I could afford any car, I'd be rich and would have more than one--not for car collecting, but for purpose--which would go something like this:
- A hybrid. I can't afford two cars for myself now, but if I could, I would have a hybrid for every day use. If I were still married, I would insist that the family have one for around town.
- A nice sedan from a finer mfg for road trips to non-camping destinations, or anything beyond the reach or capability of most hybrids. This could be a Benz, Beemer, whatever. It would probably be a wagon for cargo space. Perfect for driving down the coast to a cabin or beach rental.
- A vehicle for longer road trips, especially if it involved camping. I'm thinking Volkswagen Westfalia and the like. I'm not into big RVs.
- If I splurged beyond that, I might have a nice convertable coupe.
No Hummers for me. Being rich is a lousy excuse for stupid extravagance.
And I have don't have enough need for an SUV or Chevy Subdivision. I'd rent a truck when needed.

I suppose I might consider a volvo instead, but you have to consider the maintenance costs of imported cars.

Yes... but the rules say, "If you could afford any car you wanted..."... and therefore, you can dream big! Go for that Volvo, babe!

I drove a Volvo for 5 years and loved it! Her name was Vicky Volvo and she was a beautiful teal green. I really liked that it felt so safe and tank-like....I could hardly feel it when I ran over a pedestrian. In fact, the only reason I got rid of it was because I ran out of room to bury the bodies.
BTW, do other people name their cars, or is it just me?

My mother drives a 25 year old volvo, bright blue (there are only two of that colour still on the road in Adelaide and the other owner lives around here too - they wave at each other when they pass).
It turns on a sixpence and sounds like a tank and the entire street rattles when she visits me. Her handbrake probably breaks suburban decibel levels. She never has to knock on my door because we hear her coming. It has big black rubber bumpers and is falling to pieces inside. Yet she spends a fortune on it replacing the engine, this bit and that. She loves it and won't hear of scrapping it. She certainly feels safe in it and frequently neglects to indicate when changing lanes, etc. I notice when we're out together that other drivers quickly learn to give her space.
But it's also a visual anchor for my father. When he wakes up he is frequently confused about where he is, even which country he's in. He always looks out the front door and if he sees the blue volvo he feels safe and knows that Mum is around somewhere. If the car isn't in the drive he panics and goes out onto the street and turns on the lights and sometimes locks every door in the house, etc etc.  ementia is a terrible thing.

I love my Outback, actually. And it's a total stealth-mobile.

I will be the first one to gloat when you end up in Newport, Oregon, or Newport, County Mayo, or Newport, somewhere in Australia (forgotten where exactly), or Newport, Wales, when you meant... well, let's say Newport, Cornwall.
Even if you can get the *exact* town fine, you might be inconvenienced if you happen to land right onto a chimney, or a couple thousand feet above ground level. Fast travel and safe travel aren't one and the same thing.
Myself, I'll be fine with a console allowing me to input the very specific coordinates of the place I wish to go to, with the x, y and z axes. Think of all you could do if you had access to the same consoles as in video games!
