My own nickname is somewhat random, with some Greek roots thrown in (a deformation of "neanios" in particular), and something like Myrddin. Mix everything up, create some random names, pick the best one, and voilà!

Pull the other one, it's got bells on.  What a poker face you have there mon cher Alenyan.  I don't believe a word of it.

Perhaps it would also be interesting to know why/how people chose their avatars.

I'm intrigued by Not A Speck Of Cereal's (I'm going to have to abbreviate you or get RSI), although I'm not entirely sure I want to know all the details! [smiley=raise_eyebrow.gif]

You can call me Speck, or Chris... I no longer will respond to the name Vicky.

I explain my name and avatar in my first post to this thread, which is on page 3, complete with links!

Ironic, since you often have no Avatar...

Exactly.... that was a phase of "I want to be enigmatic"... but it clearly didn't work out that way.

I picked my avatar because I used to look like this, long dark hair, white skin.  Then I emigrated to Oz and have short dark hair and freckles.  Ah well.... nice theory, doesn't exactly explain my previous avatars though.

Our toilet-paper has puppies on it. They also come in pink.
It's such a cruel thing to do to the cute puppies!

At school we did a really boring project about the bodlean library in Oxford and its founder Bodley Thomas.  My surname is Thomas so I predictably got given the nickname bodley and its stuck ever since

Hum... well, mine is nothing special, I picked it up since my begining years on the net, after some second hand villain comic book character (is a guy in hich-tech armour)...I just liked the sound of it and decided to use it....

Lucien21, glad to found readers of Sandmand (although unfortunally I have only read the first stories (the ones where Morpheus gets free and goes hunting for his tools)....

Mine comes from a great novel, Foucault's Pendulum - Casaubon is the narrator of the book, I'm very much like him.

Like Caroline, my avatar reflects my appearance. But can anyone cite the source of the quote beneath it?
Dyslexics wonder why there isn't a word that means the same thing as "cinnamon."

I can see I never replied to this thread.  Not much to say, really, as my forum name is the same as my name in reali life.  I try to do that whenever possible.  Makes things easier for me to remember.  :

I miss my Bubba: 1986 - 2006.

Reminds me of Diane Keaton's old line from Woody Allen's Sleeper.

Miles, have you ever noticed that D-O-G spelled backwards is G-O-D?

Wow... that's uh, really deep.

Split personality...

Actually it was a username issue.  The boring end of it was I had to re-register, hence the "old" and "new" postings.
