11 adventure game pictures will be posted each week (monday), which will be divided into 6 different categories:
(1) missing pieces advanced (pic 0): one part of the screenshot of a highly obscure (imo!) game (2) black mask (pics 1 & 2): full screenshot covered, with only 5 small parts showing (3) missing pieces (pics 3 & 4): one part of the screenshot (4) missing pieces non-interactive (pics 5 & 6): one part of the screenshot of a non-interactive part of a game (eg intro, cutscene, menu screen etc… anything that’s not part of actual gameplay) (5) inventory (pics 7 & 8[size=13]): one or more inventory items (6) box shot part (pics 9 & 10): part of the front of the box
screenshots in categories 1-3 (pics 0-4) will be from actual gameplay… there will be no games repeating within the same category (ie a game that appeared on week 1 in the black mask category will never appear again in that category, but it may appear in a different category)... the tourney will last 9 weeks (starting monday 29/8 and ending on halloween!)… whoever has gathered the most points wins (current title holder is bastich! ) Rules/Scoring
01. You get 3 guesses total for each of pics 1-8 and 2 guesses total for each of pics 0, 9 & 10… but every guess is not worth the same points… scoring goes as follows:
pic 0: 1st guess = 3 pts, 2nd guess = 2.5 pts pics 1-8: 1st guess = 1.5 pts, 2nd guess = 1 pt, 3rd guess = 0.5 pt pics 9-10: 1st guess = 1 pt, 2nd guess = 0.5 pt
if there are multiple guesses for a pic in one pm and they are not numbered, they count from left to right and top to bottom… eg a pm looking like this: 01: post mortem 01: still life, jessica plunkenstein is translated as 01: 1. post mortem, 2. still life, 3. jessica plunkenstein
02. If at the end of the week a pic has been guessed by one person only then it’s worth double the pts it was worth when the correct guess was made! eg, if pic #2 is guessed by someone on the 2nd guess (ie worth 1 pt), and no one else guesses it, it’s worth 2 pts! this does NOT apply to pic #0… if a pic is not guessed by the end of the week it will be revealed.
03. [size=16]DO NOT post your guesses in the trivia threads... pm them to Aya_TRV (and not to my regular user name please - pms to my regular user name will NOT count)... you can send as many pms per day as you want, which can include as many guesses as you want (keeping the limits of course)... i will NOT be answering pms personally about which guesses were right or wrong, but the correct guesses will appear under the pics, using the "masked names" (see details in next post)!
04. Properly accurate titles are NOT required, as long as it’s clear which game you’re talking about… if a game is part of a series then the number IS required… no number will automatically be considered as the first of the series (in some cases a number will not be required if a full name is given, eg leisure suit larry in pursuit of the pulsating pectorals!)… originals and remakes are considered the same game… different platform versions of a game (ie amiga vs pc) are also considered the same game even if they look entirely different.

Status : Offline | ABOUT THE MASKED NAMES
everyone who wants to participate in this tourney must create a “masked name”, ie a secret identity who will only be known to them (and me!)… before starting to play, pm your masked name to Aya_TRV… you don’t have to create an account with your masked name, unless you want to make posts in the tourney threads using it… you can pm your guesses using your regular accounts if you don’t want to create a new account, but only your masked name will appear in the correct guesses and rankings… what and how you post is up to you, but the goal is no one to be able to figure out who you are! on halloween, ie at the end of the tourney, a special thread will be created for everyone to try and guess who is who! (this thread might turn into a mini game, but more details about it later!)
the masked names are reserved in a first come-first served basis… if more than one persons have chosen the same name, the one who sent the pm first will take it and the others will have to choose smth else… similar names canNOT be used, eg guybrush/guybrush threepwood, larry/larry laffer etc… all masked names must be entirely irrelevant to each other… if someone chooses a name that already belongs to a regular member of the forum (eg andromus, susan, bastich), that member will be asked first if they want their name to be used (but without knowing who will be using it!)… if they don’t agree, a different name will have to be chosen… if someone wishes to change their masked name, they can only do so if they are not in the rankings yet (names that are in the rankings cannot be changed in order to avoid confusion)
ALL accounts created for this tourney will be deleted a few days after the tourney ends (all posts made will not be deleted)
ps… if you want to create a new account but only have one email address that’s used for your regular account, you can get a new email address for free at yahoo mail
Addendum:
If you want to post using your masked name, pay attention to the following in order to be hidden properly:
- If you want to post using your alias, you have to create a new account... do not rename your regular account to do that, cause it's easy to see the original name
- Avatar urls can be seen by everyone... if you want to use an avatar, do not use a host that has your name in the url, or anything else that can give it away (eg www.url.de will mean it's probably someone from germany)... also, using the same url that you use for your regular avatar will make it easy for someone to find out who you are
- When you create the new account, make sure to go to the profile and hide your email address (esp if it's relative to your name)
Also, If you decide to use the name of another forum member, you of course cannot create an account using that name... if you want to post using that name, the new account created should be followed by the suffix _HLW (eg Andromus_HLW, Susan_HLW etc)... forum members can forbid usage of their names for posting even if they allow their names to be used for the game

a brand new, sealed copy of the digital jester’s dvd release of the moment of silence will be given away to the winner of this tourney… there might be a 2nd prize available, which is not determined yet… if there is a 2nd prize, the winner will have the choice between the 2 prizes, and what they don’t choose will be randomly given away to one of the other participants that made it to the final rankings (ie you must have scored at least 0.5 pt!)

If a picture isn't guessed in a particular week, will it carry over to the following week? Edit: Oops! Sorry! I just reread and saw that it will be revealed at the end of the week.

Now I have to come up with a good disguise.

This will be fun.

Ohh.
Did they really make whole sentences for some of the words instead of just stars? I bet someone had fun making that filter.
