A One-Question IQ Test

Here's a one question IQ Test to help you decide how you should spend the rest of your day......

There is a mute who wants to buy a toothbrush.

By imitating the action of brushing one's teeth,
he successfully expresses himself to the shopkeeper and the purchase is done.

Now if there is a blind man, who wishes to buy a pair of sunglasses,

how should he express himself?

Think about it first before scrolling down for the answer...

He opens his mouth and says. "I would like to buy a pair of sunglasses."

If you got this wrong - please pack up your things, turn off your computer and call it a day.

Caroline is the resident deep thinker around here, JohnBoy, and she has growing boys at home.  Not much gets past her.

Am I the only one who wouldn't purchase sunglasses if I were blind? I guess they can be used for looks, but I think I'd much rather not have any glasses at all.

But a lot of blind people do wear them.  I guess it's so people know they're blind.  Or so they look cool.

Silly boys.  Some "blind" people suffer from conditions that make their eyes extra sensitive to the light.  My sister is like that - she suffers temporary periods of blindness and she always wears heavy sunglasses outside, sometimes even indoors if her eyes are bad.

My sister's blindness isn't the fault of the eye itself, rather the eyelids go on strike from time to time and refuse to open.  In the house she has to physically hold up her eyelids to see where she's walking.  Naturally she doesn't drive like this, but she puts her big sunglasses on when she is taken to the shops and she squints behind them something terrible.

Be kind to blind people.  There's a lot more small miseries in this world than you think.

I was speaking of full blindness, rather than any other visual impairment; interestingly, "blind" isn't really used in the French language these days, as something akin to "poor eyesighted" is used instead to describe *everyone* with visual problems, including the blind (just the same, if you cannot hear anything, you still only have "hearing problems", in standard polite French).

Of course, in the case of your sister, sunglasses make sense; I was only considering the case of someone unable to see anything at all, where I cannot see much use for sunglasses... unless the eye is still sensitive somehow?

It's called "visually impaired" in English.  Political correctness gone mad...mad, I tells ya!

Alneyan, I went to college with a lady who was born blind and her eyes were permanently shut.  She wore dark glasses to hide them because they had sunken - perhaps the eyes themselves had been removed.

In her case, the glasses can only have been to spare the sighted people having to look at her.  Perhaps her parents hated the way people and children stared at her?

I wear specs and in my next life I'm coming back as a gorgeous TALL blonde with perfect 20/20 vision so I can look devastatingly cool in sunglasses.  Not to mention, outstandingly sexy in tiny almost not there bikinis.

Tried that ~ more hassle than they're worth.  Actually lost one on the floor of the Ladies when on 2nd date with future hubby.  Spent ages on the floor looking for it.  When I returned to the table he was astonished.  He thought I'd dumped him.  I was terribly impressed that he intended to simply sit there and eat his meal.   I think it was a Schooner's Inn.  Don't tell me they've closed down too.

That's what he said.  'I'm hungry'.  It impressed me that he was so cool, calm and collected ~ master of the situation.  Although I was shocked at the sort of manners he thought I had, ordering a meal and then ducking out the back.....  :-/

That was the first time I ever tasted wine.  We shared a half bottle of reisling and my parents decided I was drunk when I tripped over the cat and stumbled against the dog as I was telling them all about my date.  They didn't mind, they just impressed upon me how important it was never to be under the influence in public again.   I mean - how drunk can you get on ONE glass of wine.  My limit now is TWO glasses.  After that I get dizzy and I hate that feeling.

Wow, people sure moved slower back then.  Second date and no kiss?  Hard to imagine that. These days most women would freak out thinking something was wrong if they hadn't been kissed by the second date.

Anyways....congrats on your upcoming 28th!!

How on earth could I kiss a total stranger?  Why would I want to?  We'd met at a wedding but I didn't know him from Adam.  It was our 4th date that we kissed.  Innocent young virgins and all that.  :

Seconded; the youth were... well, so depraved back in those days.  :
