Riddle of the Sphinx is probably my favorite TAC game, and the most non-linear, wide open adventure I've played in the area it lets you cover at one time, which I thought was interesting and a nice change from how confined adventures often get. And there was a good array of puzzles, all leading up to the one big puzzle the game presented.

Granted, the size of the game area caused the game bog down for me because missing one or two items made me search through all that space for them. The inventory system was quirky at best. And movement and pathfinding weren't as solid as they should have been; sometimes you had static views; sometimes they used a 360 degree viewpoint.

Nevertheless, it was a real treat of a puzzler to play. And I loved the surprise at the end, perhaps because I saw it coming.
I give it an 8.

Deleted UserA 7 from me.  I hated the maze and one immensely time-consuming puzzle. Finding my way was not easy.

One of the first games I ever played, ROTS was a fun and challenging experience. I loved the way you segued from the present day pyramids, dry and desolate, into the past , rich with color and drama. It was like the proverbial 'secret garden'. A hidden door that opens into an ancient world.
My only gripe is that it has a glitch that makes accessing  the door somewhat of a challenge. But getting to run the robot camera up the shaft in the chamber almost makes up for it.

An 8.  The exploration was fun and challanging, but the combination lock was too touchy and the robot camera took too long to travel up the shaft.
