Deleted UserOne more Gabriel Knight game and we'll have collected the whole set
. I'll be interested to know how this one stacks up against the other games in the series.
For me, GK1 is much more than the sum of its parts. Sure, it has an excellent plot, written by Jane Jensen, but so do the other Gabriel Knight games. When I think about the gameplay in GK2 or 3, I remember a few unique puzzles and gameplay sequences that I enjoyed. When I think about GK1, I remember being attacked by zombies, dying again and again in a voodoo hideout, and pixel hunting in a field. Several times.
Somehow, however, GK1 is more than the sum of its parts. Despite these annoying sequences, the majority of the game is pure adventure fun with the perfect mix of plot and puzzles. Any adventurer needs to play this game, which is in its own way the best of the Gabriel Knight games, combining the best features of both games that came after. Unfortunately, the frustrating flaws lead me to give it only a 9.

I really enjoyed this game; the puzzles were good, the story was great and I liked the way the cutscenes were made.  However I did die quite a lot and that puzzle in the police station went too fast.  The ending was pathetic, too. 9.
...not to be confused with Keira Knightley

This could have been a 10 without the arcade sequence and with a better ending (but what game can shine in that point, tell me).
It's more or less a 9,5 for me, but I give it a 9.

.

I gave Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers an 8 but even though the poll will not allow it, would like to go on record with a rating of 8.5.

Although I loved the New Orleans setting, supernatural mystery story, most of the puzzles and of course Jane Jensen's introduction of our favorite Schattenjaeger, the game had some glaring flaws (already mentioned above). Enough so that I cannot round-off to the next highest number in good conscience.

Cheers,  Terry

Of the series, this one was the most disappointing for me. I probably wouldn't have persisted with it, had I not wanted to play the games in succession. Of course, the story was excellent, but the game play and dated graphics tried my patience.

I was going to give it a "10". Then I remembered being killed by zombies again and again in a very clumsy action sequence that didn't fit in with how well the rest of the game was made at all. And a couple of hard to find items. Enough to take off a point, I think. I'll make it a "9".

Still, as Fick says, one of the best balanced adventure games with a superb story and an compelling mystery (nice touch, to tie it in with Gabe's family history) and some good puzzles along the way.

And the creation of the two most memorable characters in adventuring in Gabe and Grace. My only regret is that I didn't get around to play this until relatively recently.

An 8.  Wonderful story and reveals extensive information on the subject of voodoo, but the graphics are dated and most people will need some time of slo mo utility to solve the police station puzzle.

Even when I played this game on my old Windows 98 machine, with its lousy 64 Megs of RAM at 750 MHz, I had to use a utility called Turbo, and set this way down to something like 8% before I could get this game to run properly.

I don't think this is such a spectacular game. I am playing it at the moment, and I'm near the end, so I thought it would be OK to vote on this.

I gave it a 6.

I give this game a 10, I LOVED it, but I played this game when it was first released, so my experience is different than if I only played it over the last few years, would probably seem very outdated. But at the time I played it it was wonderful!

I have changed my vote from a 6 to a 5.

I originally stopped playing at day 8 because I got bored, but I desided to give it another go and finish the game. The ending is very linear and filled with timed sequences. I just hate that. I had to restore at various points about 20 times in order not to get myself killed. Most annoying. >

Deleted UserI gave it a 9. I loved the story,  the atmosphere and the puzzles. The timed sequences and zombie dodging were irritating, but, with some nudging by a walkthrough, not frustrating.

I gave this one a 9.

The excellent story, characters, voice acting, puzzles, etc are more than enough to overlook some annoying timed sequences.

God damn it (am I alowed to write that here?^^) I'll give Gabe a 10!

Who's going to say the Graphic is outdated?!? U know when that game first came out? (btw I don't give a ****[spoiler midtext](buck
) at graphics (as long its an Adventure), if they are good....nice thing, if not, they dont have to!) In "GK - Sins of the Fathers" the optic just fitted the story and everything (got it from "Best of Sierra"-Magazine and there was a related Comic in there, which i realy enjoyed)

I played it several times and would play it again, if my machine would stop speeding the game up so much. It just steals the whole atmosphere.

Can't give it more than a 9 because I've never finished it - I was too stupid/too slow to get past the *censored* mummies  :-[ Except for this minor flaw
I loved the game as much as I love the other two in the series. The humour is great, and knowing the other games it's great to see how much Gabe changes from Sins of the Fathers to Blood of the Sacred. You can already sense that there's much more to him and this Schattenjäger-business than the game reveals. The puzzles and story are very well done, some parts were a bit tricky, though - I don't know how many hours it took me before I got the message on the crypt right or rather: before the game finally decided to accept one of the many versions I had tried before. The voice acting is especially cool; Tim Curry is perfect for Gabe.

Actually there are two endings.
