Wow.
Wow indeed. Rather than address the substance of the review itself you unsucccessfully attempted to flame one of my titles instead in hopes in raising some sort of imaginary controversy while simultaneously trying to make FutureBoy! look better than Pentari: First Light by contrast.
Your post is a classic example of a red herring fallacy coupled with an ad hominem attack. Neither has any substance nor any basis in truth but both attempt to draw attention away from the truth itself. And here comes that truth.
Maybe FutureBoy! should hang up his cape and go home. Retirement for weak, useless and powerless superheroes does preserve some shred of dignity.
Apparently, you hold the twisted view that Pentari: First Light is not a great adventure game. For the real story, you should go visit http://www.malinche.net/testimonials.html and get your warped reality straightened out.
I have your number, fallacy boy. This isn't the first time I ripped apart your weak attempts at pouring water on Malinche's fire. Just quit now. Your ranting, whining posts filled with fiction and fallacy are becoming too easy for me to disect. You and FutureBoy! should both retire before either of you are embarrassed further.
'Nuff said.

Once again, your dissing of any current text adventure that isn't a Malinche product speaks volumes about your integrity.

You and JE must have gone to the same school, or at the very least you both belong to the same school of thought. You seem to invoke fallacies at every turn while attempting to twist and hide the truth. I'll not have it.
You committed a slippery slope fallacy when you said that I "diss any current text adventure that isn't a Malinche product". That's just a straight out lie.
And then you used one of JE's favorite fallacies -- the ad hominem attack. You dare question my integrity because of my statement based on the facts presented? It's a joke.
My integrity is above reproach and I have the track record to prove it. I will let Malinche itself speak for me on that regard. Thousands and thousands of happy customers, excellent reviews by media icons and superb coverage by the media at large says it all.
I'm done with you and JE both. Malinche's fire will not be doused by the tepid water of lies and deceit. Go and have a party. I'm not coming.

You are so right on every count Shany. I don't visit these forums much, and I only saw that ridiculous post JE made last night. I could not let his insult past unanswered. Pentari: First Light is like my first child in some respects and I don't take such harsh, unwarranted words lightly. Especially when I know those words are lies.
But am I giving them what they want? I don't think so. And I certainly hope not. Even so, I won't take the chance next time. Malinche is a world-class company and anyone who thinks for themselves and weighs all of the facts will come to the same conclusion.
I'm going to leave those two to their own devices and pay them no mind. At the end of the day, they really don't matter. As a rule I don't pay attention to things and people that don't matter. And that's a rule I am firmly re-adopting where those two clowns are concerned.
Thanks very much for the reality check.

That's just a straight out lie. OK, here goes a slippery slope rephrasing: "diss the free works that just go as far and now Future Boy!". In your own words, no less. For the record, the free works accounts for pretty much the whole interactive fiction scene today, so my original slippery slope fallacy wasn't that far from the truth.
BTW, since you love facts so much, would you be so utterly kind of explaining why Future Boy! was nominated for 9 of the much respected XYZZY awards but Pentari never did? Because, I don't know, you keep insisting it's a great adventure but somehow ten testimonials doesn't do it for me.
While you're explaining that, please, could you be so kind to tell me why your games cost the same as Future Boy!, which has graphics, music and a custom interface?
Indeed, it would seem very convenient for Malinche if Future Boy! retires...
Sir, I must admit, you do have a face to diss that game the way you did!
PS: You just love the word fallacy, don't you?

Status : Online | Yeah, uh, hmm. Shany is right. This post was pretty old. I was just a little or a lot surprised at the poor review Future Boy! got compared to Pentari, which is universally conceded to be a poor or even terrible game by anyone other than Howard and the Just Adventure review.
That's just fine. Everyone's entitled to an opinion. Mine was a surprised one.
Howard, an "ad hominem" attack is "an attack against the man", mean, loosely speaking, you in this case. You'll note that nowhere in my post that you classify as an "ad hominem attack" did I even mention you, or for that matter any man. I merely expressed surprise and mentioned that I and a lot of others thought Pentari was a crummy game.
A bunch of "Bob S." testimonials on your own web page hardly qualify as strong evidence of how great Pentari is. Just by the way. For that sort of thing one should search the web for all the...oh, wait, JA's "great" review is inexplicably the only one.
It's all just opinion, okay? I played Future Boy! and had as much fun as any game I played all year. I thought Pentari was terrible. Just an opinion. Tougher skin is in order.
