Bombs have exploded on the London underground and three buses all at the same time.  Apparently 20 people have been killed.  It's rumoured to be Al-Qaeda.

Saw this on our news about an hour ago but they were only confirming 2 dead at that time but at least 90 injured. No doubt your news is more up-to-date.

I was going to say pretty horrible, but that's such a trite understatement. Let's just hope it's not as bad as it seems at first, from what I saw there seemed to be a lot of confusion as the cause, from a terrorist attack to gas explosions - of course it obviously wasn't a gas explosion seeing buses were bombed or attacked as well as the trains but I guess there must be more information than what I saw by now.

.

I have been reading the reports in horror Chris.

However, if the death toll stays at twenty, given the potential to kill so many more people with those bombs, you can consider your city "lucky" for lack of a better term. Attacks on mass transit like this are intended to not just kill and maim as many human beings as possible but also to seriously disrupt an entire urban center. Hopefully, the terrorists failed badly at both objectives and will be caught, convicted and sent away for good. Even better if they put up a fight and are killed by law enforcement officers on the spot. I mean, despite the martyrdom issue, this world is a much, much better place without them in it.

Cheers, Terry

BBC say only 2 people have been officially announced dead, and there were 6 train bombs and 1 bus bomb.  Al-Qaeda say that they did it.

3 hours?

Couldn't you just dive into a new adventure?

Read a new book?

Play with your pets?

Play with your partner?

This is awful - I'm worried about Alan.

Of course, nobody is going to say any concrete fact for another day or so, but I'm listening to the radio which changed program to the event anyway.

I thought this sounded somewhat hard, but Sir Funk is right, really.

What a shock to hear the news this morning. Again terrorists have changed the lives of many innocent people. I have a special finger signal reserved just for them.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other screaming, "WOO HOO what a ride!!!

Whilst I apprechiate the thought, I'd like to state that that finger signal isn't going to solve anything and most especially isn't going to make them say: "We didn't impress them this time, judging by the amount of finger signals - .. hmm. Well, whatever, let's watch television for the rest of our lives then."

Deleted UserThis is just all too familiar these days. I always loved London, and my opinion of it hasn't changed a bit with this. We have to remember terrorists are cowards and worth no attention or any yielding to their threats.

I feel terrible for all the victims, and wish all wounded full recovery (if there's such a thing as recovery under the circumstances).

Yeah, I'm glad I don't live in Copenhagen now. I'm sure that's the most likely place to strike.

Yes the letter from the Terrorist claiming to have done it specificly mentions Denmark and Italy as being next targets unless they withdraw troops.

Well, as I never wanted the troops there in the first place, I wouldn't mind them withdrawing.

I think in cases like this it's important to keep doing what we do already without even thinking about who threatens with what. Doesn't mean you can't withdraw, but you shouldn't because of the threat. Because the moment you do you're showing that such threats have any effect.

Overall I guess that with terrorism which tries to change things by random violence the best strategy is exactly what the Brits are doing: get back to normal as soon as possible. The BBC is resuming normal skedule and a lot of things should be back tomorrow. I find that very, very good.

Oh, I didn't mean we should withdraw because of the threat. I've thought that all the time. And right now probably wouldn't be a good time, it might send the wrong signals. But I don't know what a good time would be at all, then.

Hey Sir Funk and Parrot

I spent 3 hours slumped in front of the telly last night watching the event unfold simply because there was nothing else on - they even interrupted the cricket to show it.  Total obsession.  And LOST was cancelled....

And considering I'm sick as a dog at the moment, sitting slumped in front of a telly instead of lying shivering in bed was a big improvement.  So lay off.

I was awake during the night coughing my guts up and guess what I did at 3am?  Turned on the box and there it was .... terror in London.

I can't describe my contempt for people who do this.

(You didn't told us your situation why you were watching for 3 hours. I just thought it was too much. And I was cheering you and the others a little up)

Glad to know SJH is ok. Please say hello for me when somebody talks to him.
