I am totally anal and find it hard to keep a game if it doesn't have a box and then if I want to keep the game but don't have the box I will actually email companies and publishers just looking for the box

Randy... Have you had any success with that approach?  Would that work for Joe Q. Public or do you have to be "in the business" to get their attention?

I keep all my boxes, but not all my games, I only keep the ones that I truly love or think I will play again, the others I usually trade or sell, I just dont have the space to keep the ones that I know I'll never play again.
Im so glad they are starting to put them out in the smaller boxes.

Not a box saver - I have so many games that it would require an addition onto my house if I kept boxes.  I don't trade or sell my games so there's no point in keeping them.

Joy, that picture is BEAUTIFUL ! ! !

I too have my games/boxes on book shelves - all my friends think I'm wierd.  I keep them ALL.
although got rid of some of the earlier ones BEFORE I knew I should keep them)

I don't like the newer, small boxes though - for the same reason I didn't like the size of CD boxes over full-sized Albums - I like the BIG pictures to look at - they're so much more colorful and fun to look at then the tiny little boxes you need your glasses for.  Although I understand the need for conservation.

OH NO!
on't throw the inside cardboard away. A game is not complete if it is missing. I have a few that I traded for not realizing the condition, and I regret it because they are so flimsy and the jewel cases fall out so easily. A collector would never want it in that condition.

Hi all...just joined the forum and wanted to put in my two cents...

Typically I fold up the boxes so I can store more easily. However I have a few that are in specialty boxes that I would not want to destroy. They are:

G.K. 1 : Funky X shaped box
Sid & Al's Incredible Toons: Box was a puzzle in itself!
Day of The Tentacle: Box was tall Triangle

I also have a bunch of Sierra game packages that I got signed in person by the creators (Roberta Williams, guys from Space Quest, etc.)

I probably have more but can't think of them...what weird boxes do you have?

Hi,
I agree that if you are selling the game to a collector, who wants the original game and box, in mint condition, you should keep everything.   However, if you want to keep your game boxes for yourself, or you sell your garmes to someone who wants the game, and isn't that picky about the box, then throwing away the inside cardboard works.

Ideally, we'd all keep everything, but, due to that darn "conservation of matter" law, some of us are just running out of room!

Regards, mszv

I have around a 150-160 game boxes, we have most of them packed in big big boxes in my hubby's computer room which is a garage converted into a room.

Alpine,

I've had moderate success with that approach.  I usually don't tell them who I am just that I am looking for such and such box.

Another good way to get boxes you might need is to go to Electronics Boutique.  When customers bring in pc games for swap or store credit (I'm not talking about returning a game you just bought and didn't like) EB usually puts the used game for sale without the box and they sometimes just store the box in a back room.  Unfortunately , they often just throw the boxes away also.
