So now that summer's here, what are you going to do? Are you going to go see friends and relatives or travel somewhere?
Or are you just going to spend some time relaxing with a good book (and a good game) and maybe go swimming? Or are you going to be working at summer?

I'm going to glower at the sun, and curse; other than that, my current plans involve such activities as loafing and loitering, and possibly get some sort of website up and running... before hell freezes over, of course.

Caroline: Give me a second, and I will pack my things, buy a ticket, and off I am to Australia. 15 C and rain sounds like a deal to me.  :
(Especially if it won't get much hotter until September or so)

It was hot and sunny here last week and I sunburnt myself to death, but now the weather's gone British again

As for my plans, well I'm going to spend the day lounging around, work at night and argue with my brother until he lets me on the internet

...not to be confused with Keira Knightley

Work. I don't like our summer weather - hot, humid and buggy. I spread my 4 weeks holidays out in the spring (1 week) and the fall for the rest.

Unfortunately, when you're done with college and out in the world on your own and working every day, the summers are just like any other months of the year. Well, at least the weather is good!

We can be heroes, just for one day.

That means:

- Diving

- Books
- hot weather
- guided tours (just hire a car with driver and he will take you anywere
- climb the kilimanjaro. (not completely I guess)

In short: Having funnah and living my own adventure.

But there are also lot's of fun things to do before we're going.

gosh

That's a real adventure!   Have fun, take a photo or two to share with us.

Alneyan - You must have rocks in your head.  I'm sitting here cursing for not remembering to ask my husband to close the air conditioning vents in the ceiling because the wind is coming in.

We're in drought so it won't be a very wet winter but tomorrow they expect thunder storms as well.  If this is the weather you prefer you should move north - Manchester springs to mind - very rainy there.

Wow, that sounds like a great vacation!
Have fun in Africa and post some photos from Kenya on the forum when you get back.

What fun things you're going to do before going?

And in between, try to find some money

Man, I'm hurting now! At best, we will be travelling to Seattle to complete our Canadian permanent residency paperwork. (You have to "enter the country" with all the right documentation; having the documentation and already being IN the country is not good enough.)

Wow, you're so lucky!
I've always wanted to visit China.

What city/cities are you going to visit? Are you going to go to the Great Wall of China?

It's a roundtrip, starting in Peking (that includes the Great Wall) and then to Xian, Cao Ping, Yangshuo, Hangzhou, Suzhou and ending up in Shanghai...with a lot of stuff to see along the way.

Hmmm... for me it's a country side holiday, u know, back to the roots... A house on a hill, woods everywhere, ah... and there it is: a great, cool, crystal river... No net, no TV, no radio, no cars, no smog... Just me, my gal, grass, healthy food (no plastic, no E's, no chemicals...) and pure wine...
Man, I'm so tired of the city...

Your trip sounds wonderful, Sir Funk.  A friend of mine did a similar one about 7 years ago and got some wonderful wildlife photos.

Your China trip sounds exciting, Eva.  A teacher I know went many years ago when they first opened up the country to Westerners again.  He said they were supervised at all times, and there were areas in every city that were forbidden to enter.  Despite all that and having to get used to enormous crowds, he said he had a fantastic time.

Movu,
Sometimes chilling out is absolutely the best vacation option to help you maintain your sanity.  When I was working, the best gift was always quiet time.

Donna,
Are you taking a tour or visiting friends on your trip?

Having worked in the public schools for 33 years, I would always have to schedule trips in July or August, which was prime vacation time for everyone.  Now that I'm retired, I prefer to go places in the spring or fall.  I haven't made any specific plans yet, but I hope to head up to New England when the leaves start to change, and I may visit my cousin who lives near Washington, DC.  I'm a bit of a museum freak and could spend weeks in the Smithsonian.

espite all that and having to get used to enormous crowds, he said he had a fantastic time.

My mom went the first year they opened up for tourists as well, this will be her first time back. They've eased up some but it should still be a bit difficult to travel around there on your own. I wonder how much it's changed since then, if the tourists have influenced the country - when mom first went, the Chinese had to import coffee and butter just for the tourists.

We've just came back from a visit from a couple were the woman is from Kenia and her husband climbed the Kilimanjaro.

They've 2 daughters with about the same age as our daughter (nine years)

She told us a lot about Kenia and he showed us many pictures.

So, we're having great 'pre-funnah' and we can't wait.

Just 7 more weeks. Or is it 6?
