Caroline: Give me a second, and I will pack my things, buy a ticket, and off I am to Australia. 15 C and rain sounds like a deal to me. : (Especially if it won't get much hotter until September or so)

As for my plans, well I'm going to spend the day lounging around, work at night and argue with my brother until he lets me on the internet

We can be heroes, just for one day.

gosh
That's a real adventure! Have fun, take a photo or two to share with us.
Alneyan - You must have rocks in your head. I'm sitting here cursing for not remembering to ask my husband to close the air conditioning vents in the ceiling because the wind is coming in.
We're in drought so it won't be a very wet winter but tomorrow they expect thunder storms as well. If this is the weather you prefer you should move north - Manchester springs to mind - very rainy there.

Wow, you're so lucky! I've always wanted to visit China.
What city/cities are you going to visit? Are you going to go to the Great Wall of China?

No net, no TV, no radio, no cars, no smog... Just me, my gal, grass, healthy food (no plastic, no E's, no chemicals...) and pure wine... Man, I'm so tired of the city...

Your China trip sounds exciting, Eva. A teacher I know went many years ago when they first opened up the country to Westerners again. He said they were supervised at all times, and there were areas in every city that were forbidden to enter. Despite all that and having to get used to enormous crowds, he said he had a fantastic time.
Movu, Sometimes chilling out is absolutely the best vacation option to help you maintain your sanity. When I was working, the best gift was always quiet time.
Donna, Are you taking a tour or visiting friends on your trip?
Having worked in the public schools for 33 years, I would always have to schedule trips in July or August, which was prime vacation time for everyone. Now that I'm retired, I prefer to go places in the spring or fall. I haven't made any specific plans yet, but I hope to head up to New England when the leaves start to change, and I may visit my cousin who lives near Washington, DC. I'm a bit of a museum freak and could spend weeks in the Smithsonian.

My mom went the first year they opened up for tourists as well, this will be her first time back. They've eased up some but it should still be a bit difficult to travel around there on your own. I wonder how much it's changed since then, if the tourists have influenced the country - when mom first went, the Chinese had to import coffee and butter just for the tourists.

We've just came back from a visit from a couple were the woman is from Kenia and her husband climbed the Kilimanjaro.
They've 2 daughters with about the same age as our daughter (nine years)
She told us a lot about Kenia and he showed us many pictures.
So, we're having great 'pre-funnah' and we can't wait.
Just 7 more weeks. Or is it 6?
