Hi!

I read somewhere that you can actually rent consoles, not just games.

Does anybody know where you can rent consoles, for how long and for what price?

Usually place for rental is your video hire store. Prices are different in  different places, so the best thing is to go and ask. And the rental periods vary from overnight to weekly.

Thanks!

Now I just have to find a good video store (which shouldn't be too tough). Btw, does video hire store mean the place where you rent videos?

I was wondering the same thing. Welcome to the international community. At least here I'm not in any danger of making inadvertently offensive hand gestures!

I suspect you'll find the rental price is pretty insane. I remember VCRs going for an exhorbitant price when they rented those.

So would actually buying a console be cheaper than renting one?

Well, we're probably going to see the current generation of consoles plummet in price as the new ones come out (XBox 360, PS3, whatever Nintendo's is called). So I'd say if you can wait six months to a year, you'll probably get a steal.

Thanks for the tip. So will the new consoles be backwards compatible and what do you think they will cost?

1. I would assume so.

2. If you have to ask, you can't afford it.

You're right about that.
So, which console are you thinking of buying?

Oh, I've been toying around with the idea of getting a PS2 when the prices drop. The trouble is, I have two young ones in the house, so I don't want to buy anything rated higher than "E". But most (good) games for consoles are geared toward adult players.

I have a PSX, but once I exhausted the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro titles, there wasn't much of quality left.

If you have an EB games you can probably pick up a used PS2 for around $75.00, and I know you can buy a new Gamecube for $99.00, you know, I havent checked lately but you might even be able to buy a New PS2 for around $99.00, well worth it IMO. I love consoles.

Wow, that sounds like quite a bargain. Where is this EB?

Well, I dont know where you are,
I have one 5 minutes away and they carry quite a large collection of new and used games along with consoles, you can even pick up really old consoles like super nintendo along with alot of the older games, I think they may also be known as "Electronics Boutique" ( I think) Hope you have one near you. Good luck!

I'd recommend the Atari 2600, if you really want cutting-edge graphics.

I have to tell ya, my boys 17 and 19 STILL like to play the first Nintendo and especially the Super Nintendo, and so do thier friends, I dont get it, but they like it.  [smiley=shrug.gif] They wont part with any of thier old games either, I guess they're just a bunch of gamin fools.
