Just letting you know. Sorry for bailing on the boards like that--life was giving me a "whuppin'."

Dear Pastor
We were all worried about you.  Your son's diagnosis must have hit you both for six.  I hope you are both feeling stronger now.   It's good to see you again.

Hang in there, PD. It's good to see you back too.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other screaming, "WOO HOO what a ride!!!

Glad to see you back, Pastor.  Your presence here is essential to remind us that there are good things that come from Wisconsin other than Sub-Zero refrigerators.

And cheese!

And...umm...beer.

And the Packers... :'(

Okay, I'm starting to feel better about living in Canada now.

Thanks for the kind responses. The past few months have been quite topsy-turvy, trying to get some therapies going for our son, PLUS end-of-the-school-year grading, PLUS running a pastors' conference for the first time, PLUS PLUS PLUS

I need to link out of this Age. Anyone got a book?

Okay, you are going to make me start crying in a minute here. Seriously, thanks for the concern. It's been a rough couple of months, and I had been seriously considering just dropping out of the JA forums altogether--

Okay, that last comment? HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY OF YOU. It was not some thread that went nasty, or the mods slapping me down (which they never have) or any of the usual inane reasons why people leave this place in a huff. It was just that I didn't have the emotional energy to engage in posting. We all clear on that? This is a GREAT website, and I'll dogslap anyone who says otherwise. Now, back to what I was saying earlier.

--but after I heard that Anne died...okay, look, I had been popping on periodically just to check my inbox for the fun of it, and Anne had left me an PM about two weeks before she died, simply asking, "Things okay?" and I never responded and it was the only PM I ever got from her and I never told her how funny I thought the Red Hat thing was and...anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is life's too short to go bailing on your friends like that. I'm sorry for that.

I'm not ready to leap back into the P&R forum yet--I've got too much prep work to do during the summer (I'm teaching two new classes in the fall and totally revamped a third) to weave through the marketplace of ideas there. (Yes, it is a marketplace...sort of the "50% off all bridal gowns day at Filene's Basement" of ideas, but still a marketplace.) And there will still probably be seasons where I have to scale back (expect the next one around the end of August, beginning of September, when our classes start up again). But if after, what, only four months you all are perceptive enough to notice my absence, well, maybe this is a good place to hang out.

Now, don't get all soppy on me. I don't want to pick out china patterns or anything. It's just my rambling way of saying thanks.

So, as Sir Funkenstein would say, Bubba, let's have some funnah.

Welcome back, Pastor!  You were definitely missed here.  I hope things are better for you, at least for now.   Here's a hankie, so dry your eyes and get posting.

Wow, for a lifelong nerd, I sure feel popular. You love me! You really love me!!

This makes me want to leave more often, just so my fragile ego can get stroked.

You don't have to leave.  All you have to do is ask.
