I've signed back on after a hiatus just to leave this message, but there's really no words that I can think of that can do Anne justice. She was an amazing woman, a real true friend to all who knew her. Her presence on these boards enriched everyone... always there with a friendly word, funny witticism or sharp observation.
This is a sad day for this forum as it loses one of its most valued and remarkable people, not just of here but of the entire internet adventure community. I cannot really put into words just how brilliant Anne was, anything I say just doesn't do her justice!
So, Anne, wherever you are, many thanks for your time here. Our lives are richer for you.

I'm just so shocked I can barely write. The "smilies" are exactly how I felt - first shocked (staring at the screen with my mouth open), deeply sad, trying to withhold the tears, and then I just burst into tears.
It's even harder since it seems like I knew her so much, yet I know that I probably knew nothing about her.
Anne was so young. I never dreamed it will happen in the immediate future. I thought I would just slip this forum out of my mind before somebody would leave us - not by his/her choise.
I really don't know what else to say.... :-[ :'(

| Deleted User | She asked you:
"But will I be able to play it."
This is truly sad, because she won't.
This was another thing with Anne, she always managed to have private chats in a public forum! Many times I found myself conversing with her only, with nobody else interrupting.

So far as I know, she's the only regular on this forum who has passed away but I sometimes wonder when people don't post here for weeks on end whether they are ill, just too busy or something worse. Guess we never really know what goes on in other forum members' lives but Anne was one who was nearly always here - I just feel so very sad that we won't be hearing from her anymore. :'(

Status : Online | I often wondered if Anne talked in short senteneces also. I bet not. I can't remember where Anne posted a poem or a brief story about what seemed to me about The Red Hat Society. As I was reading it - it just seemed to fit Anne to the letter. She's such a loss to us here ... I can't imagine what a loss she is to her family. My thoughts and prayers are with them.
Anne, I bet you're wearing your red hat. [smiley=angel_smiley.gif]

| Deleted User | I recall Anne posting a part of that poem (her favourite, apparently) as part of her JA "identity" .. latterly that wasn't included in her profile.
"When I am an old woman I shall wear purple With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me, And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves And satin sandals, and say we've no money ....."
One thing Anne did do was post her picture, so she wasn't just a "voice" she was a real person with a face on this Forum. I felt that I knew this wonderful lady. I will miss reading her one-liners and laughing when people didn't understand.
Anne's sudden death has made us all remember that we are human and fragile. People you meet on the Internet and Forums are real.
Anne's family have lost someone very dear to them, but we Adventure Gamers have lost a beautiful friend too.
Sincerely,
Janelle

Status : Offline | I'm finding it hard to take this news on board. Isn't it funny that you go through life thinking things will always stay the same until something like this happens? I was fully expecting to come back to the forum and find everyone still here chatting away.
I've been away working for a couple of months now, and will still be away till after the summer, and now I'm sorry that I wasn't in touch with her recently, at least to tell her my news and what I was up to.
For my part I will remember her as being one of the most generous people I knew. Whenever she had a game that she didn't want she drop me a PM to see if I wanted it, and we got to a point of regularly exchanging items through the post - she'd send me a game and I'd send her films on VHS that I had spare and she wanted.
She was a special person and I'm aware of the space that her passing has made. One great thing though - even though most of us never even met her she made a big enough impact on our lives for us to miss her. That really is a special person.
Best wishes to her family, and lots of love to her, wherever she is now..... :'(
