You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

It's different, but there are many puzzles I like. The humor of the first three games isn't easy to follow but I thought EFMI was funny enough. It's definetely not a pain to play. And I DID like Monkey Combat! It's a funny beat'em'up spoof.
Yes stooge or maybe sado-masochistic. Sorry.
@jamarchand YES YES YES YES Ok, I didn't like Myst very much, but I will play Riven sometime. But you didn't tell us WHY you would chose it. Remember, no electricity...

That is another good answer...and theoretically with the right placement, you could attract a plane...

then you should try Mortal Kumqwat (amiga only)... a mortal kombat spoof with fruit! you should see the "finish him" moves

I'd be happier bringing 3-5 (I'm greedy) but for just one I'd choose Morrowind/Tribunal since I could literally play it once for years, than start over when i'm senile and can't recall how it began so I'd always have a new game.

Still, when it comes to replayability, I think strategy games are the king of the hill. Always the same and yet always different... chess is a strategy game too after all.
I don't think I played any RPG more than 6-7 times (that would be Betrayal at Krondor). But I still like a round of ol' Civilization or Colonization. The only problem with these games (RPGs as well as strategy) is that over time you get too good at them
The first time I played Arcanum, I couldn't even finish the game with my poorly balanced character. The third time through I was shredding the monsters to little bits before they knew what hit them...
I forgot my sig.

I couldn't resist guns and technology, which are so odd for this type game, but I think I'm just more of a traditionalist. I just finished Divine Divinity...I love this game, it's best described as a cross between Ultima 7 (the designer's main inspiration) and Diablo II with a pinch of Baldur's Gate.

That's what I did (chose a technologist) and that's exactly why I couldn't finish the game. Next time I chose a magical character and it was a breeze. Arcanum is a good game though... a lot like Fallout sans the post-apocalyptic setting.

I also have to give Fallout another go...I began it but got frustrated quickly when I couldn't seem to shoot a rat and died repeatedly at the jaws of vermin. Perhaps I just didn't conduct combat properly.
Incidentally, my favorite game for logical, strategic combat is Wizardry 8...the magic is incredibly balanced (buffing and defensive spells actually matter) and the character personality choices are so funny...they actually respond verbally (not just text) throughout the game in the personality you chooose, whether laidback, eccentric, intellectual, loner, etc.
