Status : Offline | Can modifications be made to the software? If so, I'd like to make a request. Perhaps this already exists and I'm just missing something -- entirely feasible, and highly probable.
My issue is that I check the forums frequently, and have to click too much to get where I want to go. Examples:
1. In Adenture Games Discussion, there are currently 5 pages of topics. I initially thought that all new and modified topics were added to the top of the list with a "New" icon. I thought that was fantastic. However, just now, I clicked on page 2 (just in case) and was rather dismayed to find a bunch of "New" topics listed *after* several that I'd already read.
2. Within each topic, I'd like to see only the messages that have been posted since my last visit. Currently I have to scroll through pages of responses, unsure of the last post I read. Obviously, I don't want to miss any posts, so I'm stuck re-reading several until I find my place again.
That's all for now, thanks for reading

I tested the "new" topic issue and when I read a topic, the "new" icon goes away. But, it doesn't go away if I use the browser "back" button. Only if I use the menu. But, the "new" icon gets added again when there is a new post to a topic. Even if you have read the other posts in that topic already. It means a new post, not that the whole topic is new to your browser session.
The posts seem to be in the order of the date of the last post of that topic which seems to be the same as most forums.
As far as only seeing posts in a topic that you haven't read - I don't know if this forum software has that option but I'll look into it.
Thank you for your suggestions!

Hmm... I see... So it's not sorted first by its "New" or "not-New" status and then by date, but rather by date only? This might explain the discrepancy I observed.

| Deleted User | You ought to remove the second colum of icons on the topic page. It is just clutter.

How do I make that appear to be just the word HARVEST ?

I have my opinions on censoring swearwords but I'm willing to put up with that. However mangling perfectly legitimate stuff like "Hitchcock" or "my assertion" is seriously counterproductive.
We've had similar problems on programming oriented newsgroups where posts would be rejected for no apparent reason because they contained substrings like "s*x" embedded in identifier like "CreateProcessE*". In the end we completely disabled the filters and lo and behold, people didn't start swearing and being abusive.
Maybe I should say something about the horrors of political correctness and unwillingness to accept responsibility here but I'll just shut up
I forgot my sig.

Status : Online | Don't know if it's the software forum or anything but why does my login, when surfing in Netscape 6.2, disappear every time I go to another page, thus making it impossible to me to post replies when using that browser and I have to switch to another one (In this case being Opera 6.04)? I already have a persistent cookie-login on another board (probably using other software because it doesn't look like this one) and I can use that with Netscape 6.2, so it can't be the browser's fault. ???

Status : Online | It seems to be the justadventure-server who wishes to set the persistent cookie and since I, by default refuse all cookies by sites unless I can see the site won't work without them, that server could not set cookies, period. No warnings, just refused. I have now re-instructed NS to let justadventure set the cookie from the justadventure-server and the board works fine.
You know why I asked that question? Well, I recently registered to another YaBB board and the persistent cookie feature on that board went perfect, so it had to be a cookie-thing.
Thank you!
