You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

There is NO SECOND PERSON IN GAMING. Only 1st and 3rd. Second Person means "you." It DOES have to do with grammar in that it based on Point Of View.
There's only one 2nd person novel I'm aware of: Bright Lights, Big City. It's really quite a stunt; the whole book is like this: "You wake up and your head is aching." Like that.
Now, on to the "over the shoulder" 3rd person that some are calling 2nd person. Typified by Lara Croft in Tomb Raider. And a million action games. I actually think this is a modified 1st person. The scenery is changing as you and the character move through it, as opposed to moving a little person around on a static screen.
Thus, Omikron is really more like a 1st person game than a 3rd person game. So there.
By the way, and example of a 3rd person adventure game that's not purely inventory-driven:  iscworld Noir.

There is NO SECOND PERSON IN GAMING. Only 1st and 3rd. Technically, yes- but we're hairsplitting here. The whole topic is about hair-splitting- essentially all of the subgenres we've been talking about are still adventure games.

Thanks everyone for an insightful discussion.

By Aho, Ullman and Sethi... I don't think it's a D& joke (could be wrong though). Pretty heavy reading The Dragon Book is probably the most famous book on compiler design.

No it's not bad to know one author. Two of the authors is a little strange but not a bit strange. But three is extremely not strange at all...You follow? I guess I'll remember Aho...
Of course this is support, compilers make everything possible...
