Status : Online | I'm playing the whole trilogy back-to-back for the first time, and I'm currently starting the second (this may take a short hiatus, however, because The Moment of Silence came in the mail today).
I really can't wait to play the third one to see what all the (positive and negative) hoopla is about.
It is just me or is the second one significantly easier? Mind you I just started, and the story is too engaging for me to really care.

Here we have a perfect example of how you can't let something like the interface get in the way of enjoying a good game.

I could never quite decide if GK2 or GK3 was better, but they are certainly excellent games both. I didn't think the GK3 controls were awful, but they certainly are unusual. And yes, the GK games have excellent music! Might be the best in any adventure game (or any other game for that matter).
I forgot my sig.

Aya: now that you have had a 180 degree change in opinion about GK3, maybe it's finally time to play Myst & Riven once and for all! (Just have Val do the point & clicking! )

The future ain't what it used to be!

So glad you finally have played GK3 - wonderful game. I still tend to prefer GK2 - well, that is until I play GK3 and then once more, like Michal, I'm not quite sure which is the best!
I've never understood however what you think is wrong with the controls - never had a problem with them myself - as for the music in the whole series - pretty hard to beat I'd say!!

I actually liked the control system in GK3! I found it quite intuitive. Maybe I'm weird.

| Deleted User | I don't believe it. I thought everyone on these boards LOVED GK3 first up. I haven't finished playing it because of the EXACT reasons Aya mentioned. Its the crappiest interface I have ever had the displeasure of using. Its cumbersome... its not efficient...
Anyway, by coincidence, I reinstalled the game on Sunday and tried to play... Sure, the interface is usable (just not great)... The voices didnt bother me too much, but for some reason on my Win2K machine, it would just lockupo for a few seconds (10 or so) every 30 seconds or more... So, I have still yet to finish GK3.
I do remember from my first attempts though some annoying "features" where I seemed to be restricted from continuing down a completely open road because it was the wrong day or something... Anyway, I think I'm past this game now...
I'm now playing anachronix instead... The graphics are dated, but there's nothing like an efficient interface to help you forget the "outdated" graphics.

I'm with you there all the way! So what if we're weirdos? To be honest, I thought GK3 had one of the best control systems ever! Just very easy to move around, good choice to be able to control the 'camera', and with the escape button, the character didn't take half an hour to get to the other side of the screen. Now some games could learn form that (Syberia anyone? :)!

Status : Offline | I easily get vertigo so have problems with some games, especially 1st. person, usually takes me some time on some of those to try and adjust to be able to play without geting sick, I dont mind keyboard controls at all and loved Grim Fandango, but it also didnt make me sick, you know sometimes its hard to get into a game if the interface is hard to navigate, for me, I have to wait until the right time and mood, so I can sit down and get used to the controls, another game I forced myself to play and loved was "System Shock 2" sometimes afterward I would have to lay down for a bit, there are a few games I have had to abandon though that I just couldnt get thru because of the panning, just totally nauseated me. "surface" stuff like gfx or voiceovers will never make me think less of an adventure... really bad controls though might make it hard for me to play, but i usually get over it - in gk3's case i couldn't though... i hated grim fandango's controls too, but not as bad, so i did play anyway and loved the game!
You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

Hi all
I havent posted here in a very long time so the majority of you won't remember me ??? But I just wanted to say, as a comeback to the forums, that GK3 is by far the best of the series. I am a major fan of the GK games but GK3 imo has the best graphics, story and interface of them all

Gotta also agree on the interface, I thought it was brilliant, and I always wanted to see another game use it again.
Great puzzles, great interface, great characters and story. GK3 is a superb game. [smiley=detective.gif]

The main reason the interface wasn't used in other games is because it flat out sucked! Elementary my dear watson!

Try playing GK2 then, to make the choice even more difficult.
