Deleted UserDamn, I played the demo and preordered it. A true step up in every way, possibly the most atmospheric game I've played in years - possibly since Thief 2! Not even Far Cry's Rebellion level has anything on this!

Deleted UserYeah the hype is huge, and it's probably justified. Another hit from Ubisoft Montréal. I never actually played any Splinter Cell (or even Rainbow Six), but I think about buying this one.
I'll try the demo.

For the PC, PS2, X-Box and Gamecube version, there also available will be the Special Edition on DVD plus a DVD bonus supplemental disc.

From what I've read, this third installment will be more open-ended in that there will be no set way to accomplish a mission.

I played the first and enjoyed it, but not quite enough to pony up for the sequel.  If this one gets enough hype I'll check it out, though.

Deleted UserWTF!, the only demo I can find is 600 odd meg!!!

If thats the case, either the demo is a good proportion of the game or the game is coming on 24 CDs!!!!!

Have I missed some smaller demo or something?

That's the demo, and I belive it only covers one level. The full game is on DVD-ROM, which means it could have more than 10 similarly sized levels.

I played the demo yesterday and it truly is an atmoshperic game.  The game's new engine is quite stunning and could possibly rival that of HL2.

Deleted UserBought it. Installed it.
Started played it.
Man, this game is tough to learn! I keep checking the tutorial videos to understand how to play, but I keep dying at the 1 to 3rd guard. A lot of control to learn, I keep messing it as soon as I'm stressed.
Great idea about Amon Tobin doing the soundtrack, it does fit incredibly well.

Just finished it meself. I'd say almost HL2 standards, extremely high production values. AI is a little shakey sometimes but can be excused for the atmosphere and depth. I highly recommend it.

Deleted UserThis game is stunning, man. Absolutely fantastic. The graphics on my 6600GT are amazing, totally solid and realistic textures (although the figures can be very doll-like), sublime EAX sound, great level design, more intuitive than the old ones... utterly superb on every level.

Only thing that gets on my wick is the Airwaves gum so far. SC goes the way of Bond? Deary me. I'd say it looks better than HL2 for environments and runs smoother to boot! Lovely!

I don't understand that! Please reformulate.

Yes, technically I found it better than HL2; of great part because there is no loading time every 30sec.
But it is often too dark to have the same impact. Do your card supports the 3.0 shaders?

Well, I'm just in the second level so I'll shut up for now
.
I feel really stupid, I can't get a grip at the control scheme at all, it never happened to me before -even in Gothic and such.
Maybe I need to reconfigure some keys or something...

The secondary fuction of your silenced pistol serves to incapacitate light sources momentarily.

My card supports 3.0 shaders.

The game is beautiful to behold.  My only complaint is that the darkness in the levels obscures what the graphic engine is capable of rendering.  Most of the time I use the infrared goggles.

Thank you, but reading the original sentence I simply cannot imagine that meaning whatsoever.

Yes the game is dark indeed, but I think it gets better past the first level, which is darker than hell.
Beautiful light reflection on every texture!
I'm in Seoul 2nd part right now and I'm enjoying every moment of the game so far.
Again, the soundtrack is unbelievable; Amon Tobin, you have a new convert. Goblins meet James Bond.

The only gripes I have is that the game let me use the same techniques over and over, and the story is too much of a background for the levels.
But A+ so far nonetheless!
