Well, I've watched 2 episodes (have the 3rd waiting for me on tape to see) of the new season of Monk with his new assistant. I miss Sharona.... this new woman just seems dry and stale and like she's literally reading from cards or something and inserting the proper inflection when the cards say so. I'm not going to completely say I hate it yet. I'll watch a few more and see. How do the rest of you Monk-ers feel about the new assistant?

We can be heroes, just for one day.

Hi!  It's nice to know that others are watching too...

I miss Sharona, too... but to be honest, I like the changeup of characters.   Sharona had mellowed out over the seasons and had really fallen into a rythm with Monk and had become quite predictable.  The funniest part of the show is how people react to him when they're first getting to know him, and Sharona had moved on from that.

I did like the new assistant in the first episode, but I didn't care for her much in the last one that I saw (Cobra).  She's far more "normal" than Sharona ever was, but I'm hoping that she has more of a personality later and isn't so two-dimentional...

Like you, I'm going to wait and see...

Deleted UserMonk IMO is the poor mans "Jonathan Creek"... Having said that, JC wasn't quite the same once they replaced his female sidekick either. JC (Alan Davis) was happier though, he married her in real-life

I don't think MONK rated that well in Australia.

One of my skating friends recommended this TV show.  I don't usually watch the  USA channel, but I checked out Monk, and I thought it was COOL!

Tony Shalhoub just won best actor in a comedy series at  the SAG awards last week.

We don't really know why the other woman left (Sharona/Bitty Schram). Yes, I think the new woman is the woman from 2 guys/pizza place.

Just watched that last episode where Monk went camping... it was MUCH better than the first 2 so maybe there's hope. Then again, the new person didn't seem to play as much of a role in this episode. [smiley=angel_smiley.gif] Just joking, I'll still be fair.

Sharona and the producers decided to part company over "creative" differences.  Which I'm pretty sure is Hollywood talk for "she wanted more money".

Traylor Howard is about the only person that I can accept replacing Bitty Schram.  Her character reacts a bit different to Monk than Sharona, which makes it new again, like Avatar mentioned.  Plus, Traylor is pretty hot to boot!!!

Overall, I still find the show pretty funny.

Actually, I'd say he's a poor man's Sherlock Holmes. In fact, the whole thing seems to be a character-by-character knock-off of Conan Doyle's works.

Sherlock Holmes -- Adrian Monk
Dr. Watson -- Sharona Fleming
Inspector Lestrade -- Captain Leland Stottlemeyer
Mycroft Holmes -- Ambrose Monk
etc.
I've got a plan and it's as hot as my pants!

Well, my hopes went back up with the camping episode but the last episode brought me back to the worrying stage once again... Me thinks that the series' big boys are trying to appeal to a different audience now (the cameo of Korn being one reason I'm saying this).

Can't say I ever took to Monk - not use why, but it really didn't appeal to me.  [smiley=shrug.gif]
