Not the same adult entertainment as Tex Murphy with all the sexual undertones and quips.
I love the women in this game-sexy and powerful.
AND Tex is the MAN!

I thought you meant "adult" as in "mature." For sexual quips and whatnot, just turn on the TV

- Laura Bow: Colonel's Bequest & The Dagger of Amon Ra
- Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes 1 and 2
- Tex Murphy: Overseer
Have you tried all of them already, Romnut?

Hi! Agustin, I downloaded it, but haven't played it yet. I also now have a walkthrough for this game so I need to start it up. Thanks!

DJSouza-Hi!
I have played Overseer-another great Tex Murphy game.
I downloaded Case of the Serrated Scapel, but had problems progressing in the game, because I could not talk to the sales clerk in the perfume shop before the mananger came back. I tried too many times without success. I played on only to find that my failure to talk to her affected my unability to continue.
I have the Colonel's Bequest and Dagger of Amon Ra-looks like I need to play these soon as well as The Case of the Rose Tattoo.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Hi! jalex- I couldn't agree with you more although The Beast Within is my Number 1 game.

Also Police Quest games from Sierra (especcially the 3rd game - now THIS is a real detective), Rise of the Dragon and Blade Runner (two exellent cyberpunk-detective games), Sam and Max (comedy-detective) and Return of Phantom (again some sort of thriller-detective). Oh, and Scoop by Telarium (just pure detective, based on Agatha Cristie).

| Deleted User | Romnut, For an adventure/detective/mystery game with a twist and built in humor try Discworld Noir. I am a mystery lover and this is one of my favorites. The humor does not detract from the game. It is done so well (plays on words, double meanings, tongue in cheek)that it enhances it. I would give this game an A+.

friarphil, Please know how much we appreciate your creative talents and hard work.

| Deleted User | Another one has come to my mind. It isn't a detective mystery but it is a dark and spooky mystery never the less. Black Mirror. It rains constantly. Lots of thunder. Strange characters. Wet basements. Frightening castle.
But very abrupt ending and some of the worst voice acting I have ever heard.
But still one of my most fun recent games.

Not genuine "detective games" but another surprisingly good and oft overlooked classic-style. third person PC AG is Nightlong: Union City Conspiracy from Dreamcatcher (circa 1999).
Here is brief description of Nightlong from:
http://www.pibweb.com/review/nightlong.html
The game starts with your character Joshua Reev going to a meeting with an old pal. It seems terrorists are trying to wreck the huge corporation Genesis. You owe this man a favour, and this is the favour he wants. One agent has already been sent in, and has not reported back.
Once you find the rebels, they start telling you a different story. Who do you believe, who can you trust? You need to find your own answers to what has been happening and why.
Not an all-time great but still a very enjoyable AG with a cool story, a decent amount of exploration, some nice puzzles in an interesting game world and not too much dialog. Might be just the sort of thing you're looking for.
Another good set of PC AGs that use the classic first person POV with lots of exploration and some very nice puzzles (as well as a spooky story with a little real suspense) is Shiver and Shivers 2: Harvest of Souls from Sierra On-Line (circa 1995 and 1997 respectively). The original is hard to find these days but the sequel is still sold at some retail stores.
Here is another good little synopsis of Nightlong:
http://www.mobygames.com/game/sheet/p,3/gameId,2564/
And here's a similar listing for Shivers 1 & 2:
http://www.mobygames.com/search/quick?q=Shivers
For full reviews of Nightlong and the original Shivers, go to JA+ of course. They did not like either game that much but I disagree with the final scores. Both are well worth a few bucks and your time. Shivers 2 is also worth the deeply discounted price these days.
Cheers, Terry
