I was just curious if anyone else had played through it.

| Deleted User | I downloaded the Demo of Watchmaker and put it on my "List" ..... so far haven't seen it in the stores, but what else is new? No promotion of this game as having "Myst-like" graphics, so the games buyers have just skipped over it, I gather. Shame. Another Adventure Game that newbies won't ever get to try out. ???

The voice acting wasn't great, especially the supervisor's wife...she sounded like a zombie. This is the kind of game I love a walkthrough for. It was more like an interactive movie for me. It still took me a few days to finish it.

Other than the voice acting, I enjoyed the game.

Status : Online | I am in the midst of this game and am not enjoying it at all. Mostly, I guess, because my graphics are fouled up (a problem which some of you wonderful people have been trying to help me with)
But other than that, the graphics I do have are blocky. the voice acting is awful. Its a long way to go to get anywhere. You have to talk to all these people, using both characters. the people say mostly the same thing to both with only slight differences. Basically you have to go through each speech twice. As I commented on the Longest Journey: too much talking.
I hope I will enjoy it more as I progress...if I can progress. It's hard to do when you're in an office or kitchen yet are surrounded by mountains....

Status : Online | Now that I've played Watchmaker, I'll revise my opinion... a little.
I do prefer a third person view, and a cursor that will show me the hot spots. I hate watching the character walk and walk and walk...
I also prefer to point and click. This game had me using the mouse, the arrow keys, the space bar and the tab key for various functions. I found it confusing and clumsy.
The game was a lot more fun after I got through interviewing everyone twice.
There was a nice mix of puzzles, some hard, some not. I had a lot of trouble finding inventory items and details because of my graphics trouble.
There weren't a lot of cues as to where to go or what to do next, I find that frustrating and need a walkthrough to keep from getting bored and discouraged. Schizm drove me crazy wandering all over the planet trying to figure out what to do next! And I quit the Chrystal Key because of that.
And I thought the storyline was pretty good , mostly just exploring, trying to find thins and accomplish tasks. Seems like most game stories involve something supernatural or cosmic or magic or something. This wasn't any more bizzare than the Banshee on the Cameron Files.

I have Watchmaker but haven't played it yet. I have been in a rabid period of game-accumulation that is outstripping my capability to play the games I'm getting. I've pretty much completed my collection and plan to sit back now and totally enjoy the experience. Have 4 games going at once now and am totally hung up in 2 of them. I guess us adventure-gamers are masochists in one way or another!
The keyboard use in Watchmaker bothers me, but some reviews seemed to indicate that it really isn't much of a problem. We'll see!

Sorry I don't know about the sound. Only just downloaded it myself and wanted to let others know about. Haven't fired it up or played it yet!

If my development teams released our business software with so many flaws (both technical and artistic) we would have to give the client their money back. I stopped probably half way through out of boredom and frustration which isn't like me, I normally play every game through to the end unless it is too "buggy" and won't play forward anymore.
Oh well, we live and learn.
