Ebay is the only way....

With some persistence and a lot of patience I managed to get a boxed copy not too far out of my budget.

Now Obsidian... there's another challenge.

the problem with cdaccess is their international shipping policies... if a game comes in a big retail box (like tle does) they either get rid of the box, or force fedex shipping, which, according to the shipping info on their site, starts at $30!
and, even though the $ is pretty low right now ($30 = 15 uk pounds), it's still a ridiculous price to pay

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

It's a description of SJH's nightmarish quest to actually find a copy of the game

Deleted UserThanks fellas. CD Access is right out, I'm not willing to part that much cash for it, even if I might have to to play it - there's far too many things out there to warrant attention!

That places like DVDBoxoffice stock the Nintendo DS for £99 (as much as it will cost on release over here, if not LESS) with free shipping, for example...

Heheh, the joys of being British.

Should have said I'm in England by the way. So if you do want to get the game postage will be minimal.
Are there many us Brits on the forum by the way?

If you want to PM me how much you'd ask for it I could think about it. ATM the sales bit me hard at Waterstone and I'm a sucker for Michael Palin novels.

Squarejawhero, I know exactly what you're going through.  There was a time I could not find Phastamagoria anywhere in my area, even with all the used game sections in stores.

I went to Google and was going to do another search when I saw the word Froogle above the search window.  I did two or three different searches in a month to find it.  Finally, an e-store that sold new and used software, I don't remember the name, had it for a little over thirty dollars.

I did a quick websearch to see if they had any complaints against them or if they even really were a business.  There were many compliments, few complaints about their service, and they were indeed a real business.

I got the game fine and it worked great.

Going to Froogle or looking at the stores on Yahoo shopping is a good place to start.  Be sure to do websearches for complaints against the company, compliments or recommendations, and ask around the board if others have done business with them.  Amazon.com can be a good place to order, but be careful of scam artists.  I guess using a middle-man like Pay-pal can keep you from losing your money this way, but I have never used an auction yet.
The evil scissors still live. Who will escape this game alive?

Alexi Sayle bit you hard in Waterstones and you sucked Michael Palin's navel?

Oh, perhaps I misread that.

Actually, what I was going to say before my brain fell out was - I didn't know Palin wrote novels. Do you mean his travel books? I think you do.

Deleted UserNo, his navel.

Yes, travel books.
And a furry red Dr Seuss Cat in The Hat book too.
Then I found Return of The King extended edition online for £17.99. So I got it!

And now a Nintendo DS for £99. And Sentinel and Mysterious Island for under a tenner. Didn't get those though... don't jknow how long I can hold out... must.... spend....... munnnyyyy....

@ Jen - I'll try Froogle, although there's only a UK beta. But I s'pose it's better than nothing!
Thanks!

My Dad bought me the extended RotK box set with strange Minas Tirith [s]ash tray [/s]keep sake box. There's a cool fifth extra DVD about the making of the LotR symphony that toured around with Howard Shore conducting an orchestra/chorus of 200. It was in London before Xmas I think, but couldn't go. If I could have gotten tickets anyway....
