But at least the last 2 members who abandoned the forums recently didn't HAVE to. They only misundertanded the Top 50 thread, and when people tried to explain, they just wouldn't listen anymore...
Most of the other ones you mentioned abandoned the forums after the whole "Bacardi Jim incident", IIRC...
Why Ana left the forum was never too clear for me, I read her last thread, and there was no reason mentioned, other than the fact she says she spends too much time on the forums...
EDIT: So Ana is still here? I didn't know about that

I'm not quite sure what got into Bazza, hopefully he'll return. SeaSwim (AKA Daryl, Lyrad, etc...) holds the forum record for deleting and re-instating his account - so, I'm sure he'll be back.
The others you mention, with the exception of BJ, were involved in an unfortunate thread on another forum - and were reinstated as I recall (but the damage was already done).

How about this instead: "In light of all the people that have departed the forum lately, things seem to be getting a bit slow! Anyone have any ideas as to how we can liven things up?"
Just a thought...

The implication that the interesting people have left is completely erroneous.
There are plenty of interesting and friendly people here. Mingle a little. Get to know people.
If people want to ...........

I'm pretty in the dark about the whole thing (if anyone wants, you can fill me in on PM or on instant messenger), but when someone decides that their time to head off has come, I'd rather that they leave than stay someplace and be unhappy about it. And, there's LOADS of great people here! Loads and loads and loads. Like me!

As the old saying goes "in polite society we should never discuss politics, religion, or sex."
I agree with 2/3 of that. [smiley=angel_smiley.gif]
It's why I try and avoid that section of the forum.
People opinions tend to get polarised and the bad feeling is carrying over onto the rest of the board.
I think we should get back to basics and get rid of that section. We can then all discuss adventure games which is the reason we are all here.

I remember before the P&R forum there were loads of heated discussions in this forum.
I agree that it's a shame that so many have left. But there are still plenty of members left plus new ones joining. There are even some members around who joined before I started lurking on this site and that was a long time ago, ages before I actually joined.
I liked this site because of, among other things, the wide range of views and opinions and the manner in which they were discussed. For the most part, I'm pleased to say it hasn't changed.

You got it!
And let's face it folks, we all know where these members have gone to - or, at the very least how to contact them.
Not one of them has disappeared from the gaming community completely.

A few leave because of arguments and flame wars. We had a couple of these too. But this mass leaving of the forum is not natural. It means the forums have become too tense. People are getting way too offended by what was supposed to be a positive project - the top 50 thread. I do not get why it has caused such negative feedback and feel sorry that this happened. As for the P&R forum - the reason it was created was that all those thread will have one place, and if you don't want to get involved you can just ignore that forum, and some people do so.
I can't offer any advice I'm afraid. You cannot avoid some arguments. I just hope that the people involved will not take it so bad as to leave the forum, because some of those who left have really contributed to this place.

Me too. Might be more appealing if we added that third element into the conversations there. A few threads where we can all post our naked pictures... Wouldn't be bothering about hurt feelings anymore. We'd have more things to worry about, like widespread forum-inspired porn-related blindness and all

Aargh, and I can't stop being horrified by that picture!
IMO, some people are leaving the forum for no good reason; as was mentioned: the top-50 thread (good heavens, why do people post in a thread that says "do not post here, post here", and then get offended by someone who nicely asks them to not post there)... Others are offensive or overly sensitive. And some just happen to get a reply from the wrong guy on a bad day...
*Sigh*

I can't say I noticed many people gone cause I'm rarely here myself. It's a matter of time to spend in my case. Right now there is not much of it available.

It's a shame that people leave over petty things like the Top 50. Like Elfstone said - it's pretty pathetic really.
Some of the other recent departures had a bit more weight behind them, but that's done with.
I've have had very serious doubts about staying on here myself, mainly because a lot of people I've built up friendships with just aren't around any more, and the prospect of dumping this forum addiction (cause, if you really think about it, it is...) is pretty compelling. It would be nice to think I have better things to do with my evenings.
Whatever I end up doing, I certainly won't be flouncing anywhere, or deleting my account or anything half so excessively dramatic.

That way, you can post in the future if you want to. I'm not being critical, I'm just curious. If I lost interest in this forum, I wouldn't feel the need to make a big deal out of leaving (but that's just me--and probably nobody would notice anyway)
