The thread about worst movies reminded me of something I've wanted to get off my chest: I really hate movie trailers. Everytime they're showing a trailer of a movie I want to see, I have to close my eyes and try not to listen to it. I mean they always show the funniest scenes and the best special effects, often revealing key plot elements, surprises and sometimes even the ending! It can completely ruin a good movie experience.

On the other hand I always watch trailers for movies I know I don't want to see. That way I get a nice summary of the movie and am able to confirm that it's not worth watching.
Feel free to ignore this post.

I love movie trailers...but there's a limit for that. I've noticed they are showing more and more trailers than before. I think that 10-15 minutes of movie trailers is too much!

Kareman, I've noticed that trailers for old movies reveal even MORE than the newer trailers. If you rent or buy a DVD of an old movie, be sure to NEVER wacth the trailers. They look like a short version of the movie.

The trailer for Planet of the Apes is a good example: it's  full of spoilers...even the ending! (actually, even the DVD menu is a nasty spoiler)

@DJ - the back cover of the 'Planet of the Apes' DVD is a spoiler!
On the other hand, I had a great time watching the trailers to all the PotA sequels. I never knew there were any, and they sound like cheesy fun.

I like trailers, even though a lot of times they make a movie sound much better than it really is.

@Anne - Bridget Jones looks boring. I tried reading the book but never got very far. It's not interesting and not funny.

By that, you mean not worth seeing at all?..

Hopefully.

I mean.

Seriously.

I saw 3 sniplets and it looked like American Pie IX: to the pie-factory, only with blonde jokes instead of sex jokes.

Really.

I mean...

Man.

I love trailers!  Somehow, it makes it more worth the money I pay for a movie, since I get to see what's coming on the big screen ON a big screen...

What I really despise are advertisements... I don't pay $10.25 to come to a theater and watch commercials for Coke!  I come so I *don't* have to watch commercials!

Can you give us an example of what movie you won't see because of a trailer?

I want to see Closer, just because of having watched the trailer. It looks mature and sophisticated.

How long before they figure out that seeing just a trailer is enough for most people? Imagine how many movies you could see in an hour!
I forgot my sig.

btw, i always watch them on dvds too, after i watch the movie!

You have gotten the attention of the mysterious lady. She turns to face you. Her face is devoid of any flesh. You are frozen with horror as she begins ripping your body into a bloody mess.

Yesterday in class, I learned how to use photoshop to it's fullest ability.
Today when I was bored, I found some Lord Of The Rings pictures, and put the actor's heads on gay porn.
I think I may have found my calling in life.

I didn't used to mind movie trailers at all until I noticed on the last few DVD's I bought that I HAD to watch about 4 of them!  I couldn't fast forward, skip, or go straight to the menu.  Now I don't even want to re-watch my movies because I know I will have to sit through 10 minutes of trailers that I've seen over and over  [smiley=hair_pull.gif]

Maybe I'll find something creative and useful to do in that 10 minutes and put it on mute........download a trial copy of Photoshop perhaps?  :

My name is Bethany and I'm the daughter of Gamergal/Michelle.

Just be sure you never post or publish those altered pics in any way. If you do, you're just asking for a slew of very nasty lawsuits by some very angry celebs backed by the media, several armies of top flight lawyers and all the best PR spin artists with all the right connections and virtually unlimited funds. They give a new meaning to the word spite and I'd hate to be the focus of their collective ire.

Cheers,  Terry

Did your teacher give you a good grade?

At least you have found something useful to do with LOTR. . Can you show us your trailer?

Not really, no. I use imdb.com and check external reviews (especially James Berardinelli) to decide what movies I want to see in the cinema. I only read the first and last paragraph of the review, to not spoil anything.

Something which has happened reguraly ever since LotR came out. We medical people refer to it as: "Projective expression of denied wishes."

some of the trailers I've seen lately have totally ruined the entire movie.

Some trailers are so long that they give away every plot point and twist.  I could name a few here but then I'd be ruinning the movie for you.

At one of the screenings I was at the other day, there was  a really long trailer for a new Ice Cube movie called 'Are We There Yet' and at the end of the trailer someone yelled out, "Why don't you just show the whole movie!"
