THE ADVENTURE COMPANY HIRES LEE SHELDON TO DESIGN FIRST AGATHA CHRISTIE ADVENTURE GAME

Back in May, 2004 we promised you an exclusive story that would not only be the biggest news of the year in the adventure community, but would also be the talk of the gaming world. Well here is the first in a series of what will be numerous exciting announcements!

Just Adventure has learned that Lee Sheldon has been hired by The Adventure Company (TAC) to write and design the first game under their recently acquired license for five games over the next six years based on Agatha Christie novels. Mr. Sheldon has recently returned from London where he met with Ms. Christie’s only grandchild Matthew Prichard and Chorion, the owners of the license.

Lee Sheldon is primarily a mystery writer and wrote for most of the major television mystery shows in the seventies, eighties and nineties including Quincy, Simon & Simon, Cagney & Lacey, Charlie’s Angels, Murder She Wrote and many others. He also worked as writing producer on the fourth season of Star Trek: The Next Generation and was Head Writer for the popular and long-running soap opera, Edge of Night. His game credits include one of the great adventure games ever developed, Ripley’s Believe It or Not! The Riddle of Master Lu, Dark Side of the Moon, the vastly underrated The Wild, Wild West, Temujin and more recently, Uru: Ages Beyond Myst. He is also a published author of both non-fiction and fiction and an accomplished speaker. His newest books Character Development & Storytelling for Games and Impossible Bliss are both available through Amazon.

Lee will design the game and write all character dialogue. He will work closely with a developer to be announced shortly. With over 79 different novels and short stories to choose from for the games, it has been decided that the first game will be based on the classic – well, we promised to not yet reveal the title, but both adventure gamers and Agatha Christie fans alike should be thrilled with the choice. The development team that will be working with Lee on this game will also be announced soon.

The Agatha Christie franchise was one of the most sought-after in the computer gaming industry. Agatha Christie is the world’s best-known writer of mysteries and only Shakespeare and the Bible outsell her books -with total sales of over two billion copies. Her most popular creations - Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple – have also appeared in film and television and are as popular today as they were during their first appearances over seventy years ago. She is also the author of The Mousetrap, the longest continuously running play in history. Ms. Christie passed away in 1976 at the age of 85.
