Ray drooled, I wiped his chin. Ray drooled some more, I gave him his medication. But one look at Thief 3 and it was obvious why he was so mesmerized.
Eidos’ award-winning Thief series is the adventure game that dares to be different. It is open-ended, stealth gameplay – now known as the ‘sneaker’ genre - featuring Garrett, the master thief. The player must use every means at his disposal to steal from the wealthy and give to himself. Castles, mansions, prisons, cathedrals, dungeons and museums are the player’s ally as their shadowy nooks and crannies offer refuge from the armed guards who guard the city’s oldest treasures.
This is the true definition of action/adventure as the non-violent gamer can use stealth and cunning to outwit his opponents, while the more action-orientated gamer can accomplish the same goals with a discreet whack across an opponent’s head. A host of inventory items including lock picks, a blackjack, arrows, wall climbing gloves, oil flasks, flash bombs, and a dagger can be utilized to achieve your goals.
While most sequels are content to rest on the laurels of their predecessors, Thief 3 is one game that looks to have taken the Thief series to a new level of excellence.
