It was almost inevitable that last year’s ‘Best Adventure Game of the E3’ would now be honored with the ‘Best Sequel’ award.
We met with Microid’s head of public relations, Cedric Orvoine, in a secluded area of the E3 and he gingerly removed from deep within his knapsack a disk that may well represent the future of Microids. On it were screenshots and a playable demo of Syberia II.
Once again, the talented Benoit Sokal has created an atmospheric universe that showcases his unique ability to transport the player to another plateau. Yes, it so far seems to be more of the same, but this is a quality ‘sameness’ that outshines the competition. If Syberia II cannot pull Microids out of Chapter 11 protection, well, then there is no hope for the genre.
