The Devil Inside

Save as often as possible. Some televisions offer unlimited saves, while others will only let you save once. Collect all ammunition and medi-kits. Read all diary and journal entries. It is not necessary to destroy all of the living dead. Whenever possible, flee so you can preserve ammunition. You can change into Deva/Dave at the fountain in the main hall or at any of the red pentagrams scattered throughout the area. There are instances when it will be to your benefit to be one specific character, but I have tried to not spoil the game by dictating when a change is necessary.

Go through the Shadow Gate entrance. Proceed to the right. Follow the zombie into the maze to the right. Defeat the zombies in the clearing and then collect the supplies. Exit the maze and continue to the right. After the tunnel ambush, continue on the path until you reach a wooden shelter. Enter the shelter and take the ammunition, the sander, and the gate key (in the ditch). Exit the shelter and retrace your steps on the path until you view a cut-scene of zombies and police battling. You will find yourself transported to the fray by the lake. After the battle, collect all ammunition packs and medi-kits. Climb the stairs to the main gate and use the key from the cabin. Follow the path until you reach the Shadow Gate house. When you are finally standing in front of Shadow Gate, go right until you reach a gate. Go through the gate and follow path to a statue. After defeating the zombies, take the key at the base of the statue. Go back to Shadow Gate. Search the grounds and the shed for extra ammunition. Use the key to open the front door.

In the main hall, enter the door to the left. Search the toilet bowl to find the plumber's letter. Back in the main hall, go toward the fountain. To the left and the right of the fountain are two tiles that, when stepped on, open the elevator (though you still cannot use it). In the fountain itself is the first pentagram that will let you change into Deva. Climb the staircase to find the library key and some ammunition. The first door on the right leads to the Kitchen. The door on the right in the kitchen leads to a spiral staircase. All it contains is ammunition. In the refrigerator, take the "laziness poem." In the gas stove, take the two sheets of paper and a medi-kit. In the oven, take the silencer, the ammunition and the sheet of paper. In the dumbwaiter, find the key to the lounge.

Back in the main hall enter the second door to the right. Activate the trap door at the rear of the corridor. Destroy the statue on the left (next to the debris). In the rear of the corridor, take the letter that is held by the statue. Enter the last door on the right. This is the lounge. Activate the beer-dispensing lever at the bar. Kill the zombies that arrive. The door of the closet will open. Take the pump gun. Take the key to the dining room from the drawer in the coffee table. Activate the hand lever on the wall behind the counter next to the entrance. Go through the double doors into the dining room. If the corridor statue was destroyed, this is an empty room. If not, there's a continuous invasion of zombies in the ditch. Climb out of the hole by walking up the wooden planks.

Exit into the corridor and enter the library, the last door on the left. A map of the attic is in the small writing desk at the entrance to the library (the map can be printed out), and there are various papers on the shelves. In the adjoining room, you will find a lever in the middle of the shelves. Push the lever to activate the elevator. You will also find a "Who's Who" book on the same shelves. Make sure to read the book for background information on the characters in the game. Take the remote control from the desk opposite the lever. Search area for ammo and medi-kits. (Note the painting of H.P. Lovecraft on the wall.)

Enter the projection room. Climb the staircase to the projector. After viewing the cut-scene, raise the movie theater curtain by activating the lever above the film editing table. Search the film reels to find "Ye Book of the Future."

Go through the metal door into the movie theater. After defeating the living dead in the room, shoot the gas can in front of the screen. Climb the steps to the stage and pull the hidden lever. This will activate a secret passage behind the painting on the wall.

Go through the painting. Cross over to the far side of the room and prepare to confront the Electric Chair victim. After his defeat, take the battery he drops. Find the lever between the marble columns and insert the lever into the farthest column to the right. This opens a panel on the far side of the wall that exits into the backyard.

After defeating the Night Howler in the backyard, take the reel of film he leaves behind. Return to the projection room and put the reel on the projector. Activate the hand lever. A staircase to the attic is now revealed.

After climbing the stairs, break the mirror facing you and then activate the hand lever providing access to the attic. The attic is basically a huge maze that allows you to stock up on ammunition and medi-kits. The level is full of living dead fighting each other. Many of these battles should just be watched as they will kill each other. Make sure to break all of the mirrors in the attic to uncover the concealed walls. Eventually, your cameraman will be kidnaped by the Night Howler. During your search for your cameraman, you will go through a door that will trigger a lengthy film sequence of your television opposition, Angelina.

After the film sequence, follow along the left wall and enter the back room beyond the iron box. After rescuing the cameraman, take the fuses on the floor. Leave the room and turn left after you pass the iron box. Follow the corridor until you locate the fuse box on the wall. Insert the fuses into the fuse box to activate the elevator. Make your way to the elevator. Another film sequence will be triggered showing Angela's kidnaping. To take the elevator, click on the control console and select the second floor.

Proceed to the end of the second floor hall. Shoot the electrical outlets as you move along in order to reduce the amount of enemies you face. At the end of the hall, open the chest and take the contents. Turn left to reach the swimming pool. Go behind the counter to the bathroom. Take the pinball tokens in the wooden crate and a sheet of paper on the shelves. Exit bathroom and activate the intercom. When you are opposite the pentacle in the room adjoining the swimming pool, go through the door into the valet's room and after defeating the living dead take the key behind the screen. Return to the hall and go through the door to the pool room. After killing the zombies, take the key by the jukebox. Use your tokens to open the door to the red room by playing pinball. Enter the red room. Open the chest and take the billiard ball. Go back to the pool room and use the billiard ball on the pool table. A hidden area in the cue rest will be revealed. Take the crossbow from the cue rest.

Go back to the red room and follow it until you reach the gymnasium. Go back to the showers and examine the skins hanging on the wall. You will find the key to the room where Angelina is being held prisoner. Retrace your steps and enter the sauna through the dressing room door (located next to the mirror in the gymnasium). Kill the sauna zombie in order to neutralize his ghost. Go through the gate to hell in the sauna.

Return to the central part of the hall. In front of the elevator (to your left) is a hidden door. Enter this room and, after killing the zombie, search through the chest of drawers for the sheet of paper. Go back into the main hall; another door is revealed (if this doesn't happen, search for it). Enter the room using the bedroom key. Kill the fake Angelina. Leave the room once you have retrieved the key. After watching a film sequence, use the elevator to descend to the ground floor. Exit out the main door, open the trap door to the right of the main door, and descend into the coal cellar.

Go straight ahead and then take the left fork. At the end of the corridor, you will be trapped when the wall closes. After defeating the living dead, shoot the gas can to make the wall explode. In the hole made by the explosion, activate the hand lever to release the coal cellar's wooden door. After killing the zombies, get the sheet of paper in the wine rack. Exit the room and turn left. Return to the coal cellar entrance.

Leave the room and turn left. Shoot the zombies, then return to the entrance to go to the coal cellar. Shoot at the red bricks in the wall to reveal another hidden area. Pull the lever to open the passage leading to the mines. Exit and turn right at the end of the corridor. Pull the wall lever at the end of the corridor to reveal a secret passage to the mines. In the corridors left of the entrance to the mines, go to the end of the corridor and stand on the pentagram. The deceased souls will return to Hell and you will obtain the power of flight (obviously, you must do this part as Deva).

As Deva, enter the mines. Use your flight spell to cross the crevice. Go straight ahead to the boxes and then turn right past the debris from the beams. Continue until you reach a lantern. Kill the living dead in the electric chairs behind the mine carts. Turn left and head toward the iron door. Continue straight ahead. After killing the four zombies, go straight and then fly over the television set. While in flight, shoot at the bas relief of the of the devil's head on the wall to the left of you to open the entrance to the necropolis.

Go straight ahead until you reach a huge circular chamber that connects the entire level. You must find four talismans that will open the chamber where Angelina is held captive. After killing the two living dead, turn left next to the gravestone. Go through the door and continue straight ahead. The Torturer will show you the location of one of the talismans. Take the talisman and go back to the gravestone. Go straight again. Kill the two zombies and continue on until you reach two doors. Both doors lead to a talisman and then to a dead end. When you retrace your steps, take the door near the three mummy sarcophagi. Take the first room to the left until you reach a large chamber with a wooden bridge crossing the center. Find the fourth talisman. A cut-scene will show you where to leave the talismans. Return to the gravestone. The door to the torture chamber has been opened.

The Torturer can only be destroyed by shooting the four stalactites above the chamber. Do not stand in one place, as he constantly teleports himself and will attack with his axe. Free Angelina. The Night Howler will arrive and kidnap Deva. When the zombie elderly woman appears, kill her. Angelina will take her weapon. Return to the chamber with the wooden bridge (do not let Angelina die or the game will be over) and follow the bridge outside to the cemetery.

Walk around the grave mound until you find the only accessible tomb. You will find four items: a mirror, a watch, a talisman and a coin. Place these items on the stands in the corresponding tombs. When you reach the fourth tomb you will be attacked a horde of zombies. Once you have successfully placed the four items in their proper tombs, the Night Howler will appear. Follow the Night Howler, and after all battles have been won you will enter a room where you will find two sheets of paper. You will then be transported.

Visit every tomb and battle your way through the attacks. There is quite a bit of strategy involved on this level, and you will want to memorize the location of the television and the extra ammunition. Always remember to protect Angelina. After all battles have been won, follow her when she enters the tomb. Stay as close as possible. You will soon be teleported to the final level.

No tricks here. Simply devise the strategy that best suits you to destroy the oncoming rush of living dead. Once you are victorious, there will be a long, and some will say controversial, conclusion to the game.
