KQIX: "Every Cloak Has A Silver Lining"
to be released as a trilogy this winter

“They said it couldn’t be done. We are about to show them they were wrong.” – KQIX Development Team

The pioneer team behind the revolutionizing KQIX, the fan-designed game based in the world-renowned King's Quest series, officially announced its release date during its third anniversary of the KQ9.org website. As stated in the site intro teaser at http://www.kq9.org: “The journey begins this winter.” KQIX has been in development since January 2002 by Phoenix Freeware Online, a group of approximately fifty talented and dedicated individuals situated all over the world.

What started out as an idea to bring a proper closure to the series has evolved into an incredible and cinematic adventure, worthy of being a competitor in today's commercial gaming market. But the truly ground-breaking aspect of this project is not the use of today’s technology, the state of the art graphics, the sweeping score complete with a theme song, and the breathtaking story, but the team’s creation of all those things without any financial support whatsoever, an effort that would normally have cost millions of dollars. The members of the KQIX Development Team manage school, work, family, and this project simultaneously. Not driven by profit, but by a passion to create a product of such high quality that the fans new and old will love and remember forever, with hopes of stirring talk in the commercial game industry the world over about their accomplishments and capabilities.

Never before has the videogame industry seen such an ambitious fan-made project. KQIX will make history when it sees the release of the first piece of its trilogy of games this winter:

Part I: Shadows
Part II: The Two That Are One
Part III: Eternities

During “Shadows,” the opening of this revolutionary saga, the player will find himself in control of an older King Graham forced to explore the lands of the Green Isles and the enigmatic Dreamworld in search of a way to reverse a dark enchantment. This dark spell that has befallen the Green Isles seems to be affecting not only the rest of the King’s Quest universe and time itself, but has also cast a dark cloud over his family’s fate.

Amidst this crisis, King Graham will meet over 180 characters spread over 100 different backgrounds. As he delves into his journey, both he and his family will be taunted by a mysterious cloaked man, and hear the echoes of a distant prophecy that spreads over one thousand years to the very center of the conflict.

The continuing and concluding games in the trilogy, “The Two That Are One” and “Eternities,” will be subsequently released in the following two years.

I am very flattered by the Project…. I’m cheering from the sidelines.” – Roberta Williams

Congratulations to the team! The graphics look awesome! … were I still running Sierra I would probably be trying to find a way to sign up the project” – Ken Williams
