HER INTERACTIVE INKS HARDY BOYS LICENSE
Brothers Frank and Joe Hardy Join Forces with Nancy Drew
to Solve a Mega Mystery
BELLEVUE, Wash., August 4, 2004 – Her Interactive today announced
that it has acquired the interactive licensing rights from Simon & Schuster
Children’s Publishing to develop, publish and market a computer
game featuring the classic detective team, The Hardy Boys. Creators
of the award-winning Nancy Drew PC game series, Her Interactive will
bring the three famous sleuths – Nancy, Frank and Joe -- together
for the first time in a game based on Simon & Schuster’s
Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys: Super Mystery Series.
“We’re elated to be adding The Hardy Boys to our portfolio,” said Her Interactive President and CEO Megan Gaiser. “The crossover of The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew has successfully occurred in print and television so we felt that it was time to do the same with a computer game. Adding Frank and Joe to the mix with Nancy was a natural next step for us and we expect both male and female interactive mystery fans of all ages to be very excited about the reunion as well.”
Her Interactive has been developing Nancy Drew computer games for the past five years. The company just shipped its tenth title last month and is poised to release No. 11 this fall. The series has won numerous honors including eight consecutive Parents’ Choice Gold Awards. A fall 2005 release is planned for the Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys: Super Mystery Series PC game.
“Her Interactive has proven that it knows how to create high quality interactive experiences that appeal to mass market consumers based on coveted licenses such as Nancy Drew,” said Robb Pearlman, Associate Director, Licensing & Brand Management, Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing. “Based on their track record, we’re thrilled that the same team will be responsible for translating the Hardy Boys into an interactive experience.”
