Steve Meretzky Joins WorldWinner.com

Hello! I just wanted to let you know that online gaming site WorldWinner.com today announced that legendary game designer Steve Meretzky has joined the site as creative/content director. In addition to designing original games, Steve will head up research, concept, specs and development of all WorldWinner titles. His other responsibilities include creative and art direction for all game graphics, long term planning for new games and tournaments, and writing of game rules, FAQ's, etc for customer support.

Steve Meretzky is one of a few elite long-term veterans of the entertainment software industry. He started with the legendary game company Infocom in the early 80's, creating such classics as Planetfall (1983), Zork Zero (1988), Leather Goddesses of Phobos (1986), and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy ((in collaboration with Douglas Adams in 1984). Hitchhiker's Guide was the third game ever to be certified "platinum" by the Software Publishers Association. Steve has written games for numerous companies, such as his Spellcasting 101 series for Legend Entertainment, about the adventures of a magician-in-training at Sorcerer University. He was a co-founder of Boffo Games, the developer of such highly acclaimed games as Hodj 'n' Podj (1995) and The Space Bar (1997). Mr. Meretzky has won numerous awards, and last year was named one of the industry's 25 "Game Gods" by PC Gamer magazine.

Founded in December 1999, WorldWinner.com is an online gaming destination that allows participants to compete against other players in games of skill, and win cash prizes based on their performance. Headquartered in Newton, Mass., the company is backed by Boston-based Zero Stage Capital and a collective of distinguished individual investors called CommonAngels.
