Letter Regarding Randy's GK3 Final Beta--Thoughts and Observations

Hi Randy,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Can't wait for its release.

Was interested in your comments re "saving the genre", number of sales, and the Lara Croft mention.

Re the potential for religious controvery: The type of irreverence you described (I may not agree, but I don't take offense. After all, this is GABE. It's very typical of him...) This sort of thing is preferable (to me, anyway) to rape-as-entertainment, or some of sadistic stuff in Blackstone.

Was especially interested in the quote re Lara Croft and taking in a "new direction". Gee, wouldn't that be great? There are people who read nothing but Tom Clancy. Then there are people who read only "literary" fiction, like Saul Bellow. Geez, the adventure genre is big enough to hold a wide spectrum...some of our fellow adventurers tend to sniff at "easy" games that are nonetheless beautiful, with absorbing plots. Well, we need more of 'em to bring in the money and keep the publishers happy...and to get the brain-busters produced and made.

Maybe Lara in an adventure setting could be just the thing. After all, there's a built-in fan base.

Thanks for everything that you are doing and your continued updates,

Leah
