Hot on the heels of the announcement that The Adventure Company had purchased the North American distribution rights to Broken Sword Sleeping Dragon, we had an opportunity to engage in a short Q&A with Revolution's Charles Cecil -

JA - Charles, first of all congratulations on finding a North American publisher. Broken Sword Sleeping Dragon is a multi-platform release - will there be any major differences between the console and the pc version?

Charles - There will not be any major gameplay differences between the different versions. However we will take full advantage of the graphic and audio opportunities that each platform offers.

JA - Will the gamer be able to play Broken Sword Sleeping Dragon without having played the first 2 games in the series?

Charles - It is very important to us that gamers will not need to have played the previous two games. Those that have will benefit from references that they will recognize - return (in 3D) to familiar locations, a better understanding of some of the subjects covered in the previous games etc. But it is certainly not vital to have done so.

JA - We understand there are some action elements in the new Broken Sword game. How have you incorporated these into the game while still keeping that adventure feel?

Charles - We have included elements of action, but the gameplay is still very much that of an adventure. One of the problems with classical adventures has been that the pace tends to stay constant. Action events allow us to put the player under pressure and raise the pace at the climax of the scene, but through the standard interface which maintains the cerebral gameplay rather than introducing twitch gameplay.

JA - George & Nico - will their relationship be taken to another level this time around?

Charles - George and Nico are still just good friends. Whether they stay that way is something that I am not prepared to reveal at this point!
