I suppose the above description could lead one to believe that Four Last Things is some kind of stuffy, high-brow affair. Nay, 'tis not so.

Developer Joe Richardson -- who is responsible for The Preposterous Awesomeness of Everything  -- has assured us that Four Last Things will be both intelligent and ridiculous, and will involve such things as sinful behavior, nonsense, piffle, and moments of surprising profundity. Think Monkey Island meets Monty Python meets Hieronymus Bosch.

So, what are the Four Last Things, exactly? Well, they're Death, Judgment, Heaven and Hell.

The game's story is a relatively simple one. You, as the protagonist, have done a lot of sinning. Seeking forgiveness, you embark on a great pilgrimage -- only to discover, once you reach your destination, that you've gone to the wrong place. Your sins aren't valid here, so the only thing to do is commit them all again.

Eventually, you'll find your ultimate resting place. Whether it's Heaven or Hell will depend how you've conducted yourself throughout the game.

Four Last Things will launch February 23, 2017 on Steam for Windows and Mac. Linux is also a possibility.
